Matt Lofton No. 16 Strutmasters.com Madison Int’l Speedway Pre-Race Report

Friday August 24, 2012

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (August 22, 2012) – Matt Lofton and the No. 16 Strutmasters.com, Coulter Motorsports Chevrolet team head to Wisconsin’s second largest city and capital, Madison, this weekend for the running of the Herr’s Live Life with Flavor 200.

Heading into the ARCA Series 17th event of 20 in 2012, the ever-versatile tour has been on a grueling stretch of 12 races in 13 weeks spanning nearly every type of racetrack while traversing the country. Madison International Speedway, while relatively new to the modern schedule, originally dates back to 1970, when the tour made a three year visit before taking 38 years off, returning for the first time in late 2011. The track, steeped with racing folklore and history has seen the likes of NASCAR greats Dick Tickle, Rich Bickle and Matt Kenseth earn local championships at the high speed, banked facility.

While 2012 Rookie of the Year contender Lofton has never seen racing action at the Oregon, W.I. speedway, he feels at home heading to another high action .500-mile paved oval. The battle ready short track veteran thrives on bumper-to-bumper, beat and bang style racing and knows how to make a heavy stockcar circumvent the bullrings. Coulter Motorsports has prepared Lofton chassis “JJ” for Sunday afternoon’s event, a car that has shown well at many of the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards short track stops. Crew Chief Skip Eyler and Lofton have also spent time studying the tracks layout to best prepare for the ensuing battle.

“I really have grown accustom to visiting all of theses tracks for the first time this season,” said Lofton. “It is really exciting to get somewhere and see it for the first time and then getting the chance to compete on the track is really fulfilling. My Coulter Motorsports crew has prepared me another hot rod and I look forward to Sunday’s race in the No. 16 Strutmasters.com Chevrolet.”

Racing action from Madison International Speedway kicks off Saturday with practice from 1:00 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. and 2:15 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Menards Pole Qualifying follows suit at 4:30 p.m. The green flag is set to wave Sunday afternoon over the Herr’s Live Life with Flavor 200 at 2:00 p.m. (All times Central.)
