It’s About Presence For Mason Mingus; Win-Tron Racing At Madison

Friday August 24, 2012

OREGON, Wisconsin (August 23, 2011) – - With just three races remaining on Mason Mingus’s ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule this year with Win-Tron Racing, the duo will look for their first top-five run in Sunday afternoon’s running of the Herr’s Live Life with Flavors 200 at Madison (Wisc.) International Speedway.

On several occasions, the Mark Rette-led organization has been within sights of accomplishing one of their pre-season targets but obstacles have halted the Lakeville, Minnesota-based team of achieving the feat. This weekend, should all of the cards fall their way, the potent combination believes that a career-best finish could be among them, especially on the heels of a successful test session at the 0.5-mile paved oval last weekend.

“I feel really good about Madison,” said Mingus, driver of the No. 32 Call 811 Before You Dig Toyota Camry. “We went up there last weekend and tested. I learned a lot. The team wanted me to get some laps there before we went back for the race so I would be comfortable with the track for practice on Saturday. We feel like we have a good car to bring back for the race and I’m excited about our chances.”

Confidence is everything, especially for a 17-year old rookie like Mingus. In his nine races this season, the Brentwood, Tennessee native has nabbed six top-10 finishes with a career-best finish of sixth at Winchester (Ind.) Speedway in June. Feeling confident about his chances for the 17th race of the year, the soon-to-be High School senior is more determined than ever.

“I was very happy with how well the test went and with how the track felt,” added Mingus, an avid ARCA / CRA competitor as well. I think this is going to be a track I really like; it is the perfect definition of a short track and looks to be a very racy track. The guys at Win-Tron gave me a great car at the test and I’m very confident, we’ll have an ever better car for the race – and can bring home a top-five run.”

Despite only competing in nine races thus far this season, the Tennessean sits a respectable 18th in the ARCA Racing Series championship standings and has a respectable chance of finishing inside the top-15 by years end.

“While we are not racing for points, if we can wrap up the year inside the top-15, that would be just an added bonus for us,” Mingus stated. “This year has been all about seat time and getting comfortable with the tracks. Our finishes this year have allowed us to be in the position that we are in. It’s cool to say the least.”
Nate Thiesse, co-car owner of Win-Tron Racing offered his sentiments on his protégés tango with Madison. “We’re stoked for the race this weekend. Mason’s test could not have gone any better. We learned a lot, Mason adjusted to the track very quickly and our lap times were extremely promising. The guys in the shop have been thrashing to put the final touches on our No. 32 Call 811 Before You Dig Toyota Camry. We feel that when Sunday rolls around we’ll have a shot for a top-five performance if not a win, we feel that confident in Mason’s ability.”
The Herr’s Live Life with Flavors 200 (200 laps / 100 miles) is the 17th of 20 events on the 2012 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The fourth-ever ARCA event held at Madison International Speedway is a two-day show. Practice begins Saturday, August 25 with a forty-five minute practice session planned from 1:00 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. A final practice is scheduled from 2:15 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Menards pole qualifying presented by Ansell is set for later in the day slated to begin at 4:30 p.m. The event will take the green flag on Sunday, August 26 shortly after 2:00 p.m. The race will not be televised but additional coverage including a radio broadcast and timing and scoring will be available through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com. All times are local (Central).

In addition to Call 811 Before You Dig, Diamond Equipment will leap aboard the team as an associate marketing partner for Mingus’s 11th-career ARCA start.

About Call 811 Before You Dig:

811 (call811.com) is the new number you should call before you begin any digging project. A new, federally-mandated national “Call Before You Dig” number, 811 was created to help protect you from unintentionally hitting underground utility lines while working on digging projects. People digging often make risky assumptions about whether or not they should get their utility lines marked due to concerns about project delays, costs and previous calls about other projects. These assumptions can be life-threatening.
Every digging job requires a call – even small projects like planting trees or shrubs. If you hit an underground utility line while digging, you can harm yourself or those around you, disrupt service to an entire neighborhood and potentially be responsible for fines and repair costs.
