Editor’s Note : Frontstretch.com is expanding during the coming season and is looking for 1-2 more additional writers. Please read the following audition information below if you’re looking to join us for 2007!
Are you looking for a fast-growing website that can give you an opportunity to not only share your thoughts on racing, but have FUN doing it with a group of laid-back, dedicated people? Well, we have the place for you. Frontstretch is once again actively seeking new writers to add to our dedicated staff.
Our website is one of the most popular NASCAR sites on the internet, coming off a record-setting year in which our audience more than doubled. It’s a great place to both begin and continue your writing career, and over the years many distinguished Frontstretch alumni have moved on to careers in Marketing, Public Relations, on-air radio shows, and freelance NASCAR writing all over the U.S.; however, as you can see by reading our bios, most of us will always remain grounded here no matter where our life takes us, a special place for those who share a truly special passion for the sport millions know and love.
So, what are we looking for in a writer? Well, as long as you can write clearly and make your reader think, dream, laugh, cry, swear, or hunt you down and beat you to a pulp, then you’re just who we are looking for!
For those who are interested in auditioning, you’re required to write three articles based on the themes below:
The first will be a 100-word news article. Write a race report describing a race from the 2006 season. The goal is to give as much detail as possible and make your point in just a couple of paragraphs. I know what you’re thinking…100 words? Is that a misprint? No, it’s not…we’re looking for how well you can make your points while being able to write concisely.
The second article will be a 300-word to 500-word commentary that not only has a point, but gets it across in a creative and exciting way. Don’t just give opinion…give opinion supported by facts. Be convincing! If you can’t convey your position in a reasonable amount of words, this one will show it.
The third article is where you get to spread your wings a little bit. Write about whatever you want. There is no word limit; the column can be as long as you need. In fact, it doesn’t even have to be about NASCAR. All you have to do with this one is write so well that it makes us want to add you to the staff. An article about why you should write for the Frontstretch wouldn’t be what we are looking for, though. If we like your first two articles, we’ll read this one to see if you can fill a spot we need here.
Email these three examples to our editors and we’ll go from there.
Good luck, and good writing!
