Kennington-MacDonald Motorsports capture season best finish at Darlington
Sunday May 11, 2008
DJ Kennington’s introduction to the Word Famous Darlington Raceway came with open arms this weekend in the Diamond Plywood 200 on Friday night. “This place is just awesome, and you have to give the track respect or it will bite you”, claimed Kennington after qualifying 33rd for the event.
“We got a pretty bad draw, going out 5th on the grid in the heat of the day, but we should race well.” Race well is what Kennington did, as he piloted the MC2 Energy Drink, UNLV, University of Illinois Dodge. Within just a handful of laps, the St Thomas, Ontario native moved from 33rd to 26th. “The car feels great on new tires, but man does that change in a hurry.”
Kennington continued to pick off positions as the race progressed, finishing with a NASCAR Nationwide Series Career high of 20th. “It was so important to keep the car clean. I mean look at this, just one little scratch on the right side. Its not a big stripe, but I earned one here from the Lady in Black”.
Kennington moved up to the 21st position in the Drivers Standings as well as moved the team into the 29th position in Owners Points. This was a big boost for our team as we get a week off before a 16 race straight stretch of races.”
DJ will now board a plane and head to Canada as he competes in the NASCAR Canadian Series for a media day and practice on Saturday. “I look forward to heading back home but we are doing so well here and we improving each week. This team has some top 10’s and top 5’s in them very soon. Nothing would be better than for me to do that for them.”
