Huffman in 81 for MacDonald Motorsports
Tuesday July 15, 2008
The 2003 USAR Pro Hooters Cup Champion, Shane Huffman, will be making his first career start in place of DJ Kennington, this weekend in the Missouri-Illinois Dodge Dealers 250 at Gateway International Raceway.
Shane Huffman made his first career start in the NASCAR Nationwide Series in 2001 with owner Tony Hall. In 2006 Huffman found himself leading the way for JR Motorsports, where he raced in 28 races. Since his departure at JR Motorsports, Shane has kept very busy. Among his USAR Pro Hooters races Huffman has been the Car Chief for Rusty Wallace Inc’s, #66 driven by Steven Wallace for the 2008 season.
Shane’s desire to get behind the wheel once again has lead him to MacDonald Motorsports, where he will substitute for his long time friend in the Hooters Series, DJ Kennington.
“This is a great chance to get behind the wheel again in a car that will race. The team is really making strides to be a championship contender, and if I can help get them there, it is all worth it. Me and DJ go pretty far back, and with his hectic schedule, I am honored to help a racer with that much dedication.”
Kennington who is the full-time driver of the Mahindra Tractors Dodge has a major conflict in his racing schedule. DJ has a race on the West Coast of Canada at the same moment as the start of the Gateway event. After climbing into second in the point standings in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, Kennington has made the committment to win the title that has eluded him in his 7-time runner up career points standings.
“I would love to do both races but it is not logistically possible. We called on the most talented driver available, Shane Huffman. Not only is he a great driver and car chief, he is a great friend and I know he will race this car hard and to the front”, stated Kennington.

Message Board Quote of the Week: “I don’t see how Rusty + DEI + COT = competitive on the racetrack in 2009. I do see how Rusty could hook a sponsor, though, which DEI needs more than ever with Paul Menard leaving and taking the Menards money with him.” Scott B on rumors that Rusty Wallace would be making a return to NASCAR behind the wheel of a DEI-owned machine
