Glad® Teams with Kelly Bires and JTG Daugherty Racing for Nationwide Series Race AT PIR

Saturday November 8, 2008

The Hefty® Odor Block™ 200 is scheduled as the feature event for the third day of racing in Phoenix International Raceway’s November NASCAR race weekend. The green flag drops at 2:30 p.m. MST on Saturday, November 8, as Kyle Busch will look to defend his victory in the race from 2007.
The upcoming event will provide a showcase for the Glad® brand to raise awareness for Glad® OdorShield® Trash Bags.
”We are excited to team up with JTG Daugherty Racing as sponsor of Kelly Bires’ #47 Ford. An associate sponsor with the race team for many years now, we’re excited to showcase our Glad® OdorShield® technology with race fans,” said Doug Korn, director of sales, The Glad Products Company. “Glad® OdorShield® trash bags don’t just mask odors, but neutralize tough odors to help eliminate unpleasant smells in the kitchen. We know that consumers want a home free of trash odors, and Glad® OdorShield® helps give them that. Our exciting innovation in this area has driven Glad® OdorShield® to the #1 pole position in the odor control trash bag segment. This sponsorship also allows the Glad® brand to reach thousands of brand-loyal NASCAR fans who appreciate brands they can trust like Glad®”.
Bires added, “We’re extremely excited to have the Glad® brand as our primary sponsor the race in Phoenix this weekend. We all know that the race is sponsored by their competitor. It would make me extremely happy if we could have our Glad® OdorShield® Ford in Victory lane at the Hefty® Odor Block™ 200 .
Bires, who is completing his first full season in the Nationwide Series, is ranked 13th in the standings. While the race at Phoenix may be a high-speed glimpse to the future, the team remains solely focused on trying to improve in the rankings.

“We’re 143 points from 12th place in the standings,” Bires said. “The changes we’re making for Phoenix should make us better now – and in the future. We’ve got two races to make up those 143 points. The first step is this week.”
