+ FIXTURE AT THE FRONT “Solid” has come to define Scott Speed’s Nationwide Series season in the No. 99 Red Bull Toyota. For the sixth consecutive race, Speed ran and finished up front, with the latest effort coming in Friday night’s event at Richmond International Raceway. He started eighth and finished 10th. Happy with the car’s handling around the flat, sweeping short track, Speed called for slight adjustments throughout the 250-lap race. With 25 laps to go, Speed was scored in fifth — his highest position of the evening — and the final of five cautions allowed the leaders one last chance at improving their cars. However for Speed, the adjustments did not sit well, as he dropped to 10th at the checkered flag. Speed has nine starts in the No. 99 Red Bull Toyota this season, with one pole, five top-10 and seven top-15 finishes. Based on his average finish of 14.9, had Speed made all 27 starts this season he’d rank fifth in the points standings. Speed will join the No. 99 team at Michael Waltrip Racing for four more Nationwide races — Dover, Kansas, California and Homestead.
