I don't know how many F-1 fans there are here but the first F-1 practice just came on at 11:00pm and so far it looks like Ferrari & McLaren are going to be on the top of the charts when its all said and done. It kinda makes ya wonder why McLaren is all of the sudden doing well and Renault is struggling. Do ya think it's because McLaren now has F.Alanso or did they happen to find something over the Off-Season? I expected Ferrari to not miss a beat since F.Massa was starting to come on pretty strong at the end of the 2006 season but I had to wonder what would happen with M.Shumacher being gone and now that has been answered LOL. The one that has surprised me the most is Kimi because I think McLaren was the only team he has ever been with and I thought the Pressure of him having to fill Shumachers shoes would show but he has P-1 so far.

Most definately Alfonzo is the class of the field as a Driver and Renault has lost it Owners Crown with him gone ! It's interesting seeing Kimmii doing so well with long time Rival Ferrari and Massa struggling ! Oh and how anbout only one spec Tire Manufacturer.bye..bye Michelin..Hello Bridgestone , this should make car set up much more predictable and even the field. Lets see if it make for some more open field passing. I was watching American Scott Speed who was doing quite well in early practice , with Red Bull , I wonder if A.J. Almendinger is regetting not Testing with F1 with all the frustration he has recieved recently within Nascar..Eh !!

I also read that every team has to run the two different tire compounds during every race. Right now they have Medium and Soft but they will have Hard and Super Hard to deal with. I am watching the race right now as a matter of fact.

It was interesting to see some of the team put on the Harder Compound Tires for the Last Seqment..normally they opt for the gummer softer for the last run..Interesting !

I was VERY Impressed with Hamilton. At the rate he is going, He will be the next Micheal Schumacher, IMO of course. I thought it was a good race and it wasn't boring like some races are. I'm not sure what happened to Alonso, Like you said he just never got it going. I would like to see Bridgestone put a little bigger of a marking on the Hard/Soft tires. Did you hear that when Bernie Ecklestone heard that the Open-Wheel cars in the USA used a Big stripe to tell the difference between the two compounds he said he would NOT do that LOL.

Yeah that Bernies quite the Eccentric ! Only his way or the Highway..Baby ! It was also interesting Flammer to hear how Rennault..stated that they are having Problems adjusting to the Bridgestone Tires..it seems funny that you don't here near as much about F1 Practices as you do about Nascar Testing ? I wonder if that is the problem , with some of the F1 Teams , being behind in their set ups ? Hard to believe with all their Millions of Peso's they spend , that they would cut corners on Tire Testing....Eh ?

I`m always rooting for the underdogs. But BMW may not fall into that catagory if they can fix the reliability issues. They showed that they can keep up with any team save maybe Ferrari.
Anyhow, I fully expect the red team to dominate but I`m hopful for some close racing with McLaren, BMW and Renault this year.
Renault may have issues with the drivers, IMO. Fisi was not the fastest even before this year, and Heikki is a rookie and is going to make mistakes. I really hope Kubica has a good year, he really impressed last year.
Go BMW! Grin

I hope you guys don't mind but I found a couple of interesting things that I thought I would post.

Dennis Chevrier (Head of Track Engine Operations) said that they were a second a lap off of the pace and they didn't have any special problems. They were at-paced not just by rivals Ferrari and McLaren, But also by BMW Sauber and Williams.

I also checked on who ran what Tire and when it was ran. Just about everyone started on Medium and on the first stop put Medium back on and saved the Soft for the final laps. Massa tried a different strategy by doing a Single stop and he also started on the Soft Tire and he was likely to get caught up in traffic. On that single stop he opted for Medium. IMO until Bridgestone brings out the other tires most of the drivers will try to finish on the Soft for the Grip of course. I also found something else that was interesting. I was shocked to find out the reason Scott Speed went off course, He had Two tires Deflating.

To be Honest I had never heard of Spyker until this past weekend. I was wondering if anyone has ever seen a Spyker Automobile, Not the F-1 car. They had a car in the American LeMans Series 12 Hours of Sebring. Here are the Winners.

P1- Audi AG/R-10/TDI
P2- Acura/ARX-01a
GT1- Corvette C6.R
GT2- Ferrari 430 GT Berlinetta.

I found this on Formula-1 website.

BMW Sauber's Nick Heidfeld will make History in April, becoming the first driver in over 30 years to tackle the Nurbergring's Nordschleife track in a Formula-1 car. Heidfelds run round the German Circuit in an F1-07 will be the Highlight event during a day of Festivities, On April 28th, Celebrating BMW's Contribution to Motorsports. The last time a Formula-1 raced around the famed circuit was 1976. Niki Lauda's famous accident prompted authorities to remove it from the Formula-1 Calender on Safety Grounds.

Spyker as a brand has existed for many decades, but I think I read somewhere that it was not used for a long time. It was reborn to go racing. Sort of like if Indian wanted to make motorbikes again. I`m clueless on the details on how that could happen though.
The race car is sweet looking. Two years ago I saw them in Sebring for the ALMS 12 hour race.
