What's Wrong With the Fords?

I was vaguely aware that the Found-On-the-Road-Dead bunch was off to a slow start, but….  Yowser!  I just noticed that in Hot-lanta qualifying, the first Ford was Cousin Carl in 14th and there were only three Blue Ovals in the top 25.  The 99 and the Biff ran in the top 10 in Friday Practice, but again, Kenseth in 25th was the only other Ford in the top 25.

Matt does sit fifth in points and the 38 car is just outside the top ten, but still….

I know Rousch has put a warm body in the 6 car, but hasn’t exactly replaced Mark Martin.  And DJ took the money and ran, but still….

What’s going on here, campers?  Any ideas?

WRT the French hating Fords, a certain little Ford owner--let’s call him the “Fink in the Fedora”--certainly knows how to nurse a grudge.  And he’s been nursing one against the Frenchies since a certain 46-point fine a while back (Would SOMEBODY pluh-leeze tell that boy that the chances of a stampede through the garage area are relatively low?).

Besides, I think NA$CAR while pushing the COT/IROC concept on us, still does want the manufacturers (and their money) in the sport and they’ve got to know that Ford is suckin’ wind right now.

And it seems to me that if the Daytona Beach Mafia was going to get ornery with anybody right now, there’s a certain--(um, how should I put this without setting my buddy flame off?) let’s just call him a $50K “jerk who has gotten through life this far”--who would be squarely in their sights.

NASCAR has always been that way... They have always leaned GM's way ever since we started attending back in the early 70's.  It even got so bad at one point they called NASCAR "GMCO"

NASCAR has always been that way... They have always leaned GM's way ever since we started attending back in the early 70's.  It even got so bad at one point they called NASCAR "GMCO"

The bad part is that the Chevrolet teams now have a New Cylinder Head to boot and Ford has a New but Bad body to work with LOL. I would have to say that Ford has a long road ahead of them but if Nascar decides to do the COT in 2008 then it may not be so bad. I don't see why Ford doesn't change Bodies when Nascar goes to the COT. Chevrolet is changing to the Impala and Ford has Lincoln, Mercury, And other cars they could use.
