I'm not all that young anymore!  LOL

Glad to hear she got the cards.

OK, so maybe you're not that young....guess I'm just Old...I think I was already married when Simon came out....hee hee

BTW, after seeing your card, wondered if you were into scrapbooking or do you just make your own cards?

Some of my best memories as a kid.... Unlike some of you, I spent part of my Summers with my Mother's parents up in the Bronx... In case some of you don't know where that is, it is one of the  five bouroghs that comprise the City of NY...

My Grandad worked in interior demolition... That is, he refurbished and redid the storefronts of small stores such as delis and coffee shops around Manhattan. He worked hard and came home late in the evening... around 7 or so... Grandma had dinner for him and we ate together...Then we took a slow  walk up Fordam Road to the Grand Concourse, where there was an all night newststand right next to an ice cream stand called Crumb's... Granddad got the NY Post (when it was still a respectable paper, not a right wing rag) and he always got me an ice cream cone for the walk back...It was fun!!!

Further up the highway from the apartment where they lived was a Chase & Sandborn coffee roasting plant....when the breezes were right, you could smell the wonderful aroma of fresh roasting coffee for miles around...I guess that explains my never ending addiction to caffene ... go figure!! BTW, I went to work for him during Summers later when i was old enough to use a 15 lb sledge...but thats another story!! !!

I have done scrapbooking in the past.  I'm actually supposed to be working on a book of pix for my uncles 50th birthday.  But I started doing the cards when I found out my Mom was sick so I could send her one or two every week.  It's cheaper than buying cards and I can make them however I want.  I'll have to send you guys a better one.  BTW, not sure if Beth told you or not.  But after 3 treatments the Dr. said my Mom's tumor was about half it's original size now Smiley

She did...and I'm as happy as can be.  Not sure if Beth told you, but I have a friend you had Breast Cancer in 91...suvived that; then had it in her bones in the late 90s (and we thought we were going to lose her....the nurse said her tumor markers were the highest she had ever seen) and now it is spreading again...from her spine into her hip...I hope she survives this.  She is one about 42

I hope things work out for your friend.

That's something I worry about with my Mom too.  But we just have to take one thing at a time.  I talked to her today, she's doing good.  Just tired, but all things considered it could be alot worse.

I had a scare about 8 years ago when they found a spot on my left breast.  Had a number of scans and tests done and went in for a needle biopsy, but they couldn't find it and it hasn't shown up in any subsequent mammo's I have had.  It does run in my family so I get checked every year.

There is a web site you can go to and click on a link that will take you to a place that you can click on to help provide free mammograms for underpriveledged women.

Thehungersite.com  there is also a literacy site, animal site, save the rainforest site and something else I can't remember, but I click on them every day hoping that I really am helping out.  check it out.

LOL Big Louie  Grin

I finally found a childhood memory.

I use to love stayin the night at my Granny's house when I was a little girl. We always did really cool stuff. Her house always smelt so darn good. I guess it was because she was always cooking. But one of my favorite things to do besides steal the coffee can for mud pie making, was to play with the buttons she had a in a mason jar. She had a bookcase where she mostly kept her collectables and on the top shelf was a jar of buttons. I have that bookcase today but no jar of buttons.

Childhood memory?  I remember when it snowed so much on Xmas we almost couldn't make it for midnight mass....and we lived right across the street from the church
