NASCAR moves up unleaded fuel timetable
Tests scheduled for Busch, Trucks; Speedweeks '07 target date
Official Release
June 19, 2006
06:22 PM EDT (22:22 GMT)

NASCAR announced on Monday a timeline to phase unleaded fuel into its three national series beginning next month.

The unleaded fuel will first be used for the Busch Series race at Gateway International Raceway on July 29. The plan is to evaluate the use of unleaded fuel during several Busch and Craftsman Truck series events this season before making a decision on when it will be mandated for all three national series.

Unleaded fuel will be used for four weeks before undergoing an evaluation period. After the race weekend at Gateway, the fuel will be used at O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis on Aug. 4-5 for the Busch and Truck races; at Watkins Glen for Busch Nashville Superspeedway for Trucks on Aug. 12; and at Michigan International Speedway for Busch on Aug. 19.

I missed the race last night...
How did the teams fair with the new unleaded fuel...Huh?
With the way Nascar works,... I figure unless it was an OBVIOUS blown motor it was pretty much downplayed if it caused problems.
Can't be going and "having problems" right off the bat,.. so I figure if the fuel DID cause problems it would be denied...  Huh?

You picked the wrong race to miss Chris!

I only remember one engine expiring during the race that some concern was expressed about the unleaded fuel. Don't remember who, maybe J.J. But there were only seven cars out of the race at the end.

It was a cliff hanger betwixt Carl Edwards and Denny Hamlin. Carl's pitting when he did made the difference. Two fresh tires for Carl and a splash-n'-go for Denny. Denny's tires gave out and Carl caught and passed Denny. There was contact betwixt Carl and Denny a couple of times during the race, but when it was over, Carl said it was great racin' with Denny.

Sure had the fans on their feet. Me too.
Unleaded fuel didn't seem to hurt the action on track.

Hate that I missed it...
My little gal friend had plans for me last night...
She cooked up something to surprise me for my b-day so she had my time monopolized yesterday... She took of tomorrow (which is my "birth date") and has something else cooked up.
Guess I'll have to see if I can catch a replay later in the week.

AfterShock,... I been working on my picks for this weeks CUP race at INDY ever since the last race at Pocono.,... so you better come 'ready'.  I don't plan to suck as bad as I did last week.

Hey bud,

When presented with the choice of watching a good Busch race and a b'day "surprise" -- you made the wise choice.
Yes you did.

Happy pre-birthday!
Born in a hot month
live in HotLanta.
Go figure.

BTW
Excellent crop of Vidalias this year. Certified Extra Sweet.
Man-O-Man -- were they ever!
The best onions come from the Peach State.

Picks?  Shocked
By golly, I'm ready to "come ready". Payin' close attention to where the driver's heads are. Lookin' for Feelins'. Vibes.
Hail!
I'm already a lap down at the drop of the green flag.
Story of my life.  Wink Cheesy

Watch that rear view mirror. I'm on a mission.
But, I'll race y'all clean.  Wink

It's all in how you look at it Chris.

It's not your 45th birthday in my book.
Nope.

You're on your fifteenth anniversary of your 30th birthday.

You're just a kid Chris.
I gotcha by over 4,416 days.

When I was born, the France family knew they needed to create some form of entertainment for me to enjoy. So, they invented NASCAR. Bill was on the right track -- then Brian came along.
I'm thinkin', if I had met Brian when we were younger, I'da opened a can-o'-whup on him. Things might be different now if I had.

Now, now, -- no need to thank me.  Wink Tongue Cheesy Cheesy
