OK. Let me get my crayons out.
I hate "NA$CAR," Voice. "NA$CAR."
See the dollar sign instead of the "S"? That refers to the gang of money-grubbing billionaires down in Daytona Beach and their slack-jawed minions.
But those people you so despise are the folks who have made this sport what it is. Without them, "NASCAR" is "ARCA." Same cars, same tracks, less promotion, less hype.

Bill France Senior undoubtedly played a big role in setting American stock car racing on a path to the big-time. But is the France family totally and solely responsible for everything Cup racing is today? Without them, would there be only ARCA? Sorry Voice, I’m not buying that.
This could make a great discussion and I’ll get back to it later, but right now, it’s a beautiful day and I’ve got a garden to play in. But for the time being, here’s a little something to consider:
http://www.forbes.com/lists/2006/54/biz_06rich400_The-400-Richest-Americans_NameProper_4.html
We hear stories of old-time drivers, suffering in their old age from race-related injuries who can’t afford there medicines. Whatever the France’s contributions may have been, they have grotesquely over-compensated themselves at the expense of the drivers, crews, owners and fans. And, as Mr. Stewart pointed out, they have lost the respect of the participants, the press and the fans. They are arbitrary, arrogant, and lacking in integrity.

I think we all know the real reason why Tony was fined and everything. NASCAR can say it was because of skipping the press conference but on Monday NASCAR said they wouldn't do anything about it except talk to Tony. Then on Tuesday Tony says that stuff and all of a sudden come Friday there is a fine and probation. Does NASCAR think we are really that stupid to believe that?? Bottome line is is that NASCAR couldn't handle the truth. IMO of course.

Sadly, Tonyfan, I think one of two things are true. Either they really do think we're that stupid. Or, more likely, they simply don't care.

You have done it again..Falcon , another very informative and Correct Post ! Very unfortunate the after effect of some of the Nascar Drivers of the Past , who made relative Peanuts in comparison to the Billions the France Family has accrued over the Years. Rather Sad that an Industry this Rich has not set up a Fund or even further, like the Motion Picture Guild a Retirement Community for the less Fortunate Participant's of the Past . Very fine Post Bro ! Thanks also for the Forbe's Info...I have added it to My Favorite's...Ty !

I totally agree with you there Tonyfan. Even though I read online at Jayski that NASCAR doesnt fine drivers for making comments about officiating like the NFL & NBA do. But given the timing of the fine, it's obvious what it was for. If it was for leaving Phoenix w/out talking to the media then his fine should have come out when Montoya's fine did.

Will NA$CAR pencil in a new rule, or two?
THINKING
Detremental To Stock Car Racing
OPINIONS
(spoken) Detremental To Stock Car Racing
Will NA$CAR adopt those three monkeys as a mascot, ---
one with eyes covered, one with ears covered, and one with mouth covered
and the caption below reads:
See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil.

Funny thing on that. On the pace laps Tony said his pit road speed was 3500 second gear. Zippy always repeats that and writes it down. Well when Zippy repeated it back to Tony he said 4500 second gear. Tony never caught that. SO when they came down pit road for the first time Zippy told Tony 4500 second gear. That was why Tony was a thousand over.

LOL. When I heard Tony was black-flagged for speeding, I instantly thought (1) NA$CAR decided to jerk the choke chain or, (2) Tony, knowing it was early in the race and the chances of a caution were pretty good, did it on purpose to jerk the Daytona Beach suits around the best way he could or, (3) Tony goofed up and was really speeding.
Imagine my disappointment when Tony 'fessed up to goofing.

It's little things like this that will lose Stewart the Championship. They really need to get it together.
