Voices From the Heartland: Kyle Busch An Embarrassment to Team And NASCAR

Q: What’s the difference between Kyle Busch and Michael Waltrip?

A: Well, Michael MIGHT have been drunk when he went home after he crashed.

There is no excuse for Kyle Busch. Just when I was beginning to believe that the boy known as “Shrub” couldn’t possibly do anything stupider than he actually looks, he goes and proves me wrong. Hard to believe, I know.

Incase you haven’t a clue as to what I’m talking about, here is the scenario in a nutshell.

Tony Stewart spins. Dale Jr. slows to avoid collision in dense smoke. Kyle Busch, who had ample time to slow at the first signs of trouble, plows headlong at speed into the thick smoke and consequently, into the rear of Dale Jr. Kyle then assumes that his car is damaged to the point that it is un-repairable and LEAVES THE TRACK without so much as a word to his crew. Presumably he had more important things to do. Perhaps Shane Hmiel (who?) was having a party and Shrub wanted to get there early.

Now I know there will be at least one Shrub fan out there who will defend the little goof ball and say he didn’t have time to slow down. To you, I simply say; watch the video! He had plenty of time to slow down. He just didn’t want to. Simply put, his torn up race car was HIS fault in the first place.

Meanwhile, back in the garage, the No. 5 team is working hard to repair the car and they eventually do. Where is the driver? Anyone seen Kyle?

Now I don’t know about you, but if I were on the crew that worked to repair that car, I would be pissed! Driving a race car at the highest level of competition is supposed to be this kids JOB. He is way overpaid to do it, I grant you that, but it is his job none the less. What could Kyle Busch have to do that is so important that he felt he needed to get a jump on it?

I can hear it now. Below this article, someone is going to write that “he is just a kid and kids make mistakes, blah, blah, blah…”

Bullfeathers! Making a mistake on the track is one thing. That’s what got him into the mess in the first place. That I could forgive him for. But walking out when he should have been in the garage himself, doing whatever he could, even if only to lend support, simple shows he has no business being at this level in the first place.

It is such a shame that the No. 5 went from being piloted by one of the classiest guys of the sport to the most immature. Who would believe a Busch could do such a thing!?

Stay off the wall, (but at LEAST stay AT the track!)

I agree with ya skool. When it happened I looked at my Better-Half and said, Where in the Hell did he come from and from the looks of Jr's car I don't think he even tried to slow down. Jr's car was off the ground and for that to happen you have to get hit pretty hard.

I new he had left the track but I had no idea he Ditched his team and didn't even let them know that the driver of the car in which they were busting their A$$ to fix had left.

We have had young drivers in Nascar before but NONE of them actually acted their age. IMO he is acting VERY Immature and he needs to grow up if he want's ANYONE to take him serious. Grin

During Qualifying they talked to Kyle Busch and here is the reason he left.

He said he was Beat-Up from hitting the wall a couple times and he said no one told him they were fixing the car.

He said he never had a team member come to him and say anything about fixing the car and he said he thought it was to torn up.

I would say he was MAD when he pulled it in the garage, Got out, Went to his hauler (all the while Pouting) changed his clothes and just took off.

I doubt there was a lack of communication on a Multi-Million Dollar race team especially whe there are Valuble points on the line. I know it was only something like 3 points but how bad would that suck if he lost the championship by 3 points and it could happen LOL.
