I was just watching raceday, and this topic came up, an apparently both Yates and DEI are VERY interested.

Look out HMS, if the Master engine man comes to DEI, the whole game has changed Smiley

Yeah,.. and with HMS... they can push it as far as they want to...
NASCAR is blind in one eye,.. and can't see out of the other one.
SO they'll never see what's going on

They also mentioned that DEI wanted 4 full-time cars operating next season, that combined with Yates motors really has me excited about the future for DEI.

Yates and DEI is not the story here.  DEI considering going with a new make is the story.

Anybody seen those Chevy commercials starring Little E?  You know how happy the Chevy execs are gonna be with Little E's employer kicking the props out from under their ad campaign?

I wonder how Junior is gonna feel about the wicked stepmother's minions crapping all over his personal services contract with Chevy.  I wonder if DEI didn't just burn one hell of a big bridge.  May be time for RCR to dust off that ol' #3.

OH,.. and don't forget to mention...
Even if he is #1 son of Dale Sr... If he's NOT driving in a Chevy... NASCAR won't be near as favorable toward him.
NASCAR is WAY WAY pro-chevy.
Imagine of Jr went to a Ford... how would the NASCAR execs feel about that...

IMO I don't think it'll ever happen.
I'd love to see it though.  RYR sure can build some horsepower... and put one of those in a DEI chassis... hhuummm

NO they stated explicitly today Yates would go Chevy, DEI isn't going Ford.

Apache:

Where did you hear that?  Can you give me a link?  TIA

I saw this on SpeedTV before I saw your thread.  Note that it explicitly states that DEI has been looking at other brands.

http://www.speedtv.com/articles/nascar/nextel/37014/

Chevy--and Dale Junior--couldn't be happy about that.  If the real plan is to lure Yates away from Ford to fix the problems that seem to crop up in the DEI engine program, you'd think those nimrods at DEI wouldn't be yakking about switching to other brands, while June BUg is getting paid to sing about "the old Chevro-let set."

If a DEI/Yates deal would involve Yates switching from Ford to Chevy, I bet Lil' Jack Rousch would have a kitten, since the Yates/Rousch engine program seems to have helped Rousch (at least last year it did).

Sorry I dont have a link, but what they said on speed earlier was that Yates would be "consumed" by DEI or bought out.
And the side note was that Rousch would then have all the ford under his roof (since Yates would be gone)

Now After reading that thread, that is completly different from what I heard reported earlier today, so I can't be sure about anything ATM.

I was very happy when i heard what i heard earlier, but after reading that, the idea DEI going ford just curdles my blood.

So i'm sorrry I can't link ya anything, i was just going by what I had heard, ( I was jumping for joy when I heard it)
now who knows, i guess back to typical nascar, we'll be in the dark till the signature hits the paper.   Sad

Just a note:
Im a huge junior fan, but i'm a bigger Chevrolet fan, if Dale Jr. we're to switch, i'd still root for him, but I wouldn't be as diehard as before.

Just like Dale Jarrett, I always liked him and hoped he did well, but now that he's driving a Rice Burner (Toyoyta) I don't care if he ever makes another race.

Thanks Duck.  I found it on Jayski.

Boy this sure looks like the negotiations with Junior are in the toilet.  That or Teresa and Friends are dumber than posts.  Or both.  Roll Eyes

Your Welcome,
I see the article on Jayski  http://sports.espn.go.com/rpm/news/story?seriesId=2&id=2853274
but what i heard out of the guys mouth yesterday was a much stronger stance, it was more like "IF DEI absorbed Yates, Yates was going Chevy, DEI was reamaing Chevy through thick and thin"

After reading that article and the one on Nascars own sight, its seems lot more wishy washy.

Had I heard it put this way originally my topic and post might not have been so bold Tongue

Guess we'll wait and see..
