You're hard core race fans. You've followed what happened. You've read the media stories. You've discussed it among yourselves. So it was a tough week for the sport. It has probably damaged Cup racing's reputation among casual fans and non-fans who just saw the video headlines. But who did the most damage this week?

1) Tony Stewart for saying races were fixed and there hasn't been a fair race run all year with the bogus debris cautions.
2) The Talladega fans for pelting the 24 car with debris after the finish of Sundays race.
3) NASCAR for the way it handled the Stewart situation and thier ridiculous claim they were fining Stewart for skipping a press confernce not his comments
4) The media for blowing all the above out of proportion.

Rank em in order

My vote is 3-1-2-4

I agree with ya chris, with Earnhardt Sr. gone someone has to to be the mouthpiece for the drivers, Tony stepped up and got no backup from a single driver..

That leads to #3 Nascar chewed tony's ass out so bad Friday morning, squashing and basically stopping anyone in the future from standing up for the drivers. He was a shell of his former self listening to him after the meeting Friday.
I think the reporter from The Speed Report put it best on the Angry Minute Segment "They Labotimized Tony Stewart in that meeting"

If all those people didn't screw up, the media wouldn't have anything to do and we wouldn't have anything to read Wink

I don't understand how they could have arrested fewer than 10 people.  First they warned them that they would be arrested and then they basically let them do what they wanted to.  My guess is that bringing in your own beverages in anything other than a plastic bottle is going to be a thing of the past, just because these guys can't control themselves.  What jerks!

2 - There goes the family image.   Angry
1 - No so much what he said, but how he said it.  No wait, it WAS what he said.  AND how he said it.   Grin
3 - Expectations are so low, it means little when they live up to them.   Roll Eyes
4 - The motorsports media, with a few exceptions, just plain blows.   Angry

2, 3, 4, 1.

The reason I put 2 in the first spot is, This makes ALL Nascar fans look bad. You can't blame it all on Talledega, Alabama because their are some out of state fans there as well.

IMO this makes the whole Nascar Community look BAD not just the people at the track.

Did anyone catch WindTunnel? I guess they had a show before on bogus cautions. They showed Kyle Petty, Jeff Burton, Matt Kenseth, Kyle Busch, and Denny Hamlin  ALL taliking about how these DO happen. De Spain said "Where's all the fines for these guys?"

Exactly my thoughts.  And I say good for Tony for speaking out against NASCAR and saying what we the fans have been saying for a while now.

My point exactly Cheer. Nascar isn't going to fine any of the drivers mentioned but if Stewart says it he deserves a fine. What did Stewart say that was SO bad anyway, Nascar is like Wrestling.

I mean cry me a river Helton/France did Stewart hurt your little feelings? I'm guessing Stewart just Spoke the truth and they got spooked because they don't want anyone to know about the Non-Debris Cautions. Look at all of the other Talk Radio guys who say pretty much what they want, Do they get into trouble, NO so why is Stewart? I'll tell ya why, It was about Nascar and it was Negative. I don't think Nascar should be able to do or say anything when it comes to his Show.

Bingo...I mean I can sorta....but only sorta....understand if it happened in a post race interview, but Tony's radio show is exactly that...his radio show.  Shame on NASCAR.

I agree with that.  There is NO reason to be doing something stupid like that.  And it leads people who are not race fans to further say "that it's just a bunch of rednecks getting drunk"

AND add in "Nascar changing Tony Stewart's mind, then putting him in front of media cameras to make a statement in the early a.m." I think Tony was just saying (about the "phantom debris cautions") what many fans have been saying for quite a while now. BUT can't have one of the sport's most visible drivers criticizing NASCAR publicly... Roll Eyes

As for the fact that it was on his own personal radio show, if you listen to Sirius Nascar at all, or Wind Tunnel, Nascar is routinely criticized on those shows...in this case, it was because it was one of their drivers that they tried to do something about it.
