ge... I can't believe I totally forgot to watch opening day qualifying.  What with three shots to win the pole,.. it's sure interesting now.... Dang, flat out forgot it.

It'll be intersting again this weekend;... finish filling the field,.. and then bump day on Sunday

The FOLLOWING SUNDAY on Memorial day weekend is what I call the High Holy Day of Racing.  500 miles from Indy,.. then 600 miles at Lowes.. Whats not to love

Yeah,.. that was the reason I missed qualifying on Saturday...
I had to go to work for the track also.
We had rain,.. everything ran late... got home about 1:30
GREAT races however.
At least no work on Monday
Just totally slipped my mind to watch qualifying... I could have saw some of it before I left (maybe)

OK.. I gotta watch qualifying today...
Wonder if they will fill the field today,.. or teams will hold off until tomorrow,.. and search for more speed today.
I see there are 22 cars locked into the field as of now.  The slowest speed at 221 looks to be safely in.
There are 12 drivers (as of now) that are trying for the remaining 11 spots.
If it's anything like the last couple years some driver will come out of the woodwork, and show up on SUnday and try to put a car in the field.

John Andretti is the fastest non-qualified driver so far.  If things go well, he'll join Michael and Marco who are already in the field.
Team Penske has the pole, and 5th starting position.
Ganassi cars qualified 4th and 6th.
Andretti Green Racing has 5 cars in the field. Tony Kanaan (2nd); Dario Franchitti (3rd); Danica Patrick (8th); Marco Andretti (9th) ; and Michael Andretti (11th)
As you can see these three teams cover 9 of the top 11 starting positions.

AJ Foyt also has Darren Manning (15th);  Al Unser Jr (not yet in field) and one other car with no driver assigned.  Could be an 11th hour driver put in this car.  AJ has always had a flair for the dramitic.

I also thought it was interesting to note that the HIGHEST priced tickets for the GREATEST Spectacle in Racing is ONLY $85.  (other than Penthouse).  Funny how NASCAR charges $150.
