I'm not all that wild about fuel-mileage races, but it was pretty doggone cool to see Casey Mears get his first win, in the National Guard car, on Memorial Day.

That WAS pretty cool.

Kyle Petty coming in third, now that was long term cool.n

Congrats to both!

Great win for Casey.  I've met him a few times and he is probably the nicest guy in the garage.  If it had to come down to fuel, I'm SO glad he was the one to win the gamble.

On a side note...anyone who thinks Jimmie Johnson is unemotional neds to watch the victory lane celebration.  It was great.  I'm not sure which one was more excited.

And don't forget a Top 10 for Ricky Rudd....moved him into safe ground for owners points.

Yeah, it would have been amazing if Kyle could have won.

Not a big fan of fuel mileage races as well but Congrats to the top 5 guys who benefited from it. Another frustrating top 10 for Smoke. These are starting to get pretty freakin old. Undecided I mean I like top 10 finishes but he had a 1st place car tonight and finished 6th with it. The story of our season so far I suppose.

Now, be honest: How many of you assumed NASCAR would call a "debris" caution just in time for everyone to refuel?

I know I did.

Maybe there's been a change in how things are done in that respect.

My morning paper's article on the race said that the 20 car has been the car to beat in four races this season and has run into rotten luck.  I remember the fuel pump race (Bristol?).  Racing luck can be a wierd thing.

Anyway, I prefer to think of it as god's righteous judgement on the wicked.   Grin

Yeah, me too.  You may be right, they may have really seen the light on bogus cautions.

One caution did raise my eyebrows a little bit.  The camera showed a big ol' chunk of something, but it looked to me that if somebody ran over it, they would already be in the wall.  It wasn't exactly in the middle of the racing groove.  Still, at least we could see it on TV.

Three cheers for Casey!  He was pretty strong all evening, so it was only a mild shock that he won.  Tony said of himself that he had more to lose than he did to gain by not pitting, so when he and the others went in, and then there was no caution causing a long green/white finish, it opened the door to a fantastic night for Casey, JJ and Kyle Petty.  Regardless of what team you usually root for, this was a feel good night for those that love the underdog.

Kyle had been running in 8th to 12th for quite awhile.  I kept saying, I wonder if he can make it to the end in 10th, so it was just amazing seeing how it ended.  It still makes me smile, the next morning.

That's the one where Hmiel told Junior, "Debris caution" and Junior said, "Yeah, I saw it--it's been there for a long time."

That was awesome, I love seeing first-time winners, they're not jaded yet, they appreciate it so much, Congrats Casey!...it's not that long ago we saw that kind of reaction from Carl Edwards in Atlanta, with Jack Roush jumping up and down on the pit box...of course, by the time Carl FINALLY wins again, it's going to feel like the first one all over again...LOL

That being said, I posted on another forum "At least we're not seeing a Hendrick car in victory lane this time..." only to realize it IS a Hendrick car Embarrassed Grin Grin...the 25...the redheaded stepchild of Hendrick finally does good...again...last time was when it was involved in wiping out Jr and JJ at Talladega, ANOTHER entertaining win IMO...Cheesy
