Will Menard leave DEI?

Menard to leave DEI? UPDATE not to RGM: John Menard, the wealthy businessman who is helping bankroll Teresa Earnhardt’s DEI operation for racer-son Paul [Menard, #15], may be ready to pull out, too. Menard could wind up back working with struggling #7-Robby Gordon — the two have long been business partners, and Gordon is trying to get his team righted again.(Winston Salem Journal)(6-1-2007)
UPDATE: Robby Gordon has issued the following statement regarding Paul Menard: "It is the ultimate goal for RGM is to one day field two cars in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series. Despite speculation, there have been no discussions pertaining to Paul Menard joining RGM. John Menard has been a long time supporter of my racing program and is on board for ten events in the 2007 season - nine co-sponsored by Mapei and one co-sponsored by Johns Mansville."(RGM)(6-2-2007)
The most Important sentence in this story is, John Menard, the wealthy businessman who is helping bankroll Teresa Earnhardt's Dei operation.
Menard is one of DEI's TOP sponsors and talk about taking a BLOW, This could be the BIG one lol.
I don't think Teresa Honestly realized what would happen if Dale Jr really left DEI. She probably sat in her office and said to herself, I don't need him.....He needs me and he'll come crawling back in a few days and I will give him a pay cut and then embarass him in front of what fans he does have. She probably thinks his fans are DEI fans but usually where the driver goes.......the fans go.
SO if she loses P.Menard and the Menard sponsorship money she will be left with M.Truex Jr and Bass Pro Shops. That is IF Truex and Bass Pro Shops decide to stay.
I don't know if there are 3 good drivers available to go to DEI. I mean, Yeah I'm sure she could find 3 drivers but you have to think people are thinking she is the Evil Stepmother. This might have hurt her more than we think and I don't mean FEELINGS either lol.

yeah... and the "update" didn't REALLY say Menard WASN'T going to RGM,... it just said no talks had been held yet.
Don't mean that some may not be heald in the future.
If John Menard can bankroll DEI,... might be a good ideal for Robby to have him come on board, and throw some more sponsorship dollars his way.
I know that if Menard leaves... that'll leave Truex there by himself...
I bet with a little "persuasion"... Dale Jr could convince Truex to come to Ginn with him. Martin and Marlin could split rides in one car,... Nemecheck drive one car,.. and then Jr and Truex drive the other two.

...for racer-son Paul
That part was kind of important. It's not ALL of DEI that he's helping to support, just the 15 team for his son

yeah... thats kinda why I figured if daddy John pulled out... son Paul would go also.
Why Daddy Menard spend his money on anyone beside his own son... so basically "whoever" wants his son,.. he comes with a sponsorship. Thats a bit of leverage.

Basiclly I was saying if Menard leaves then his Dads money will leave also. Your right he is helping his son but Menard is on all of DEI's cars and they sponsor Dale Jr's Busch car when he runs one for DEI.
So far Teresa has lost BUD and it looks like she may lose Menard. They aren't kidding when they say, "When it Rains It Pours".

Yeah, Pretty much.
If Menard's continues to sponsor DEI after son Paul leaves then I doubt the sponsorship would be as BIG.

Menard already came out and said that he didn't have any plans to take money out of DEI. If there's a problem there, he wants to improve the situation with better talent. Paul probably isn't leaving. Not when his Dad is paying his way with DEI. No matter how much the TE haters complain, DEI is a much better place to put your money than RGM and probably will continue to be even after Junior is gone.

I have to agree with that one. Robbie was driving for Childress, with good equipment, and could not get the job done. I know he won a few races, but he was way too impatient and ended up wrecking himself or everyone else. Robbie is never going to be a successful Cup driver. He simply does not have the mental toughness. He IS a good driver, in spurts, but unless he gets a mentor to help him with his mental deficiencies (which I don't see happening) he is just not going to amount to much.
This all adds up to a big question, which is, why would people sponsor Robbie Gordon? I think I have an answer to that. His name is Gordon. A lot of people outside of Cup probably don't know the difference between Robbie and Jeff but they have heard the name Gordon. They see a poster of Robbie Gordon in some store and maybe it'll prompt them to buy X item. Which leads me to think that Menard is not going to take his $$$ from DEI and bring to RGM, because John Does know about Cup. There are plenty of better teams to take those same dollars to.

Ginn has been remarkably successful standing on bags of money with a boost from HMS. I wonder if Menard is thinking of forming his own team? Perhaps with support from that RCR/DEI partnership.
It may be a tick late to do it now, but Menard has more money than god and Ginn made it work (so far).

If Bass Pro moves to another team, which has been rumored, Menard pulls his plug and Bud stick with Junior, DEI is in some serious trouble. THere are many questioning whether DEI can survive with its current management team. I didn't think it would get so bad that their survival would be at stake, but you can't run race teams without sponsorships.

I agree CH.
Wherever Paul goes the money will follow and I just don't see Menards sponsoring DEI if Paul goes elsewhere.
John Menard knows a BAD deal when he see's one and seeing Dale Jr leave DEI is going to end up being a BAD deal all around. Losing Dale Jr and then if BUD goes with him, What's left? As I sit and watch Martin Truex Jr lead the Dover race with 20 laps to go it kinda makes ya RE-think everything lmao.
I will stop posting on this story until the Conclusion of the race.

I think this is a great observation dude...
Anyone that would disagree I think is on some kinda drugs.
Why Daddy spend money at DEI if son is driving for someone else.... pretty simple

IMHO Yes! IF "racer son Paul" leaves DEI, Menard's does too.
And, YES again IMHO. Truex could easily be persuaded to go with Jr.
I personally predict one of 3 things in order of how likely they are to happen....
1) Jr. to Gibbs (GREAT, STRONGER team there then IMO. And.. those guys would all
click
big time!!)
2) JRM/ RCR partrnership deal
3)Jr. to Ginn
Everyones now talking VISA as a Jr. sponsor but..Im not ruling out a Menards link there. Wouldnt surprise me one little bit to see Paul or Martin follow him ..on
either
of the latter 2 in the next few years.
We shall see...
