From Jayski.com, who sourced Dave Moody

Quote
Kyle Busch has finally decided where he will race next season, agreeing to a deal to drive the #18 Interstate Batteries machine for Joe Gibbs Racing in 2008 and beyond. Busch will replace J.J. Yeley, who will move to Wood Brothers/JTG Racing next season to steer the #21 Ford. Busch made his decision after recently narrowing the field to three teams; Gibbs, Dale Earnhardt, Inc., and Evernham Motorsports. An official announcement is expected within the next 2-3 weeks.

In addition, JGR will jump from Chevrolet to the Toyota camp beginning in 2008, joining Michael Waltrip Racing, Bill Davis Racing and Team Red Bull on the list of teams running Toyota Camrys. Neither Busch nor JGR have made any official comment on the move, but Gibbs officials have already informed Hall of Fame Racing that they will not continue to provide the team with engines next season, prompting Hall Of Fame to contact Richard Childress Racing about a similar engine-supply deal for 2008.

WHEW!!!!!
This is the most believable story yet, IMO.  KyB and Tony on the same team.  Should make for some interesting post-race meetings at JGR next year.
I can breathe a sigh of relief that KyB isn't going to RCR!
 Grin

Hate to see Yeley leaving JGR...
Someone said he was leaving.. I had my doubts.  Guess they were right.
I always believed when Gibbs said when they told Yeley if he improved Yeley wou;d KEEP his ride... Well Yeley improved quite a bit,.. but Gibbs didn't keep their word.  Guess I shouldn't be surprised..??

Going to Toyota hhuumm should be interesting... Won't matter anyway,.. just a matter of what stickers you put on the cars.  Of course the power plants will be different though.
Be interesting with KyB and Tony on the same team.  If Busch and Gordon/Johnson couldn't get along... NO WAY Busch/Stewart will...
And wonder about that deal Stewart was supposed to have about only driving 'Chevies'..??

I'm very meh on this deal.   I'm also unhappy for Yeley, but he's been at best mediocre while his teamates are running for wins week in and week out.

Also, about Yeley.   Last year at this point, Yeley was 26th in points with 1927 points.  This year he's 21st with 1975.   A 48 point improvement over 21 races is less than 1 positioin better per race.    Yeley drove himself out of a job by being mediocre, as much as I really wanted him to succeed.

I admit I hate to see Yeley go but like fathead said, He drove himself out of a job and here are the Stat's to prove it.

2006:  36 Races                 2007:   21 Races
Avg Finish - 25.0                Avg Finish - 23.4
DNF's - 7                          DNF's - 3
Best Finish - 8th                Best Finish - 2

As of right NOW it look's like it's going to be a better a year but there are still 15 races left and alot can happen in 15 races lol.

I'm thinking Gibbs was expecting Yeley to gain more than a 1.6 Avg Finish. Now granted he did improve on his DNF's and Best Finish but if I were a car owner and I told my driver I needed to see improvments then this wouldn't make me feel better.

Found this on Jayski.com.

Yeley to the #21 Ford? UPDATE denied: Kyle Busch has finally decided where he will race next season, agreeing to a deal to drive the #18 Interstate Batteries machine for Joe Gibbs Racing in 2008 and beyond. Busch will replace J.J. Yeley, who will move to Wood Brothers/JTG Racing next season to steer the #21 Ford.(8-6-2007)
UPDATE: Yeley’s agent, Kyle Chapman, said there is currently no signed deal between his client and Wood Brothers/JTG Racing, and that Yeley is in discussion with a number of teams about possible rides for next season. But sources with knowledge of the situation say Yeley will indeed be out of the #18 next season, and behind the wheel of the #21 Ford.(Motorsports Soapbox)(8-7-2007)

I kinda figured the DENIED thing would happen lmoa but from past experiance it will probably end up being true, We shall see lol. Shocked

the thing I looked at was this...
JG said IF yeley improved he would keep his job...
Yeley went from wrecking out of a lot of races early in the season,.. to finishing on the lead lap in many of the races since the announcement.  Yeah some of the finishes were 15th or 20th, but they were on the lead lap with a change to improve his position, and not on the sidelines with a wrecked race car.
SO I'd call that an improvement...

As far as the bet Czech... I guess I made a mistake.  You WERE right,.. but I assumed JGR would keep their word.
Obviosly I was wrong for trusting them to be a 'stand up" kinda car owner.  Yeley did as requested, but he got canned anyway.

I guess with Stewart, Hamlin, and KyBusch running Toyotas next year, it makes Toyata a legitimate threat to win races and championships.

I'm guessing Toyata cut them one heck of a deal to get them to switch.  I'm also guessing they were less than thrilled this year with MWR and BDR's results...

I imagine Toyota sold their soul to JGR to get out of the embarassment Toyota has been this year.

Yeah!

Where is Joe's head?!  Undecided
Imagine trading a 23rd place driver with a proven winner.  Roll Eyes
What was he THINKING?!   Shocked

                                       Wink    Grin Cheesy

At the rate ol' JJ is goin', he just might be a winner in another five or six seasons.
Joe's gettin' old.
It's about time.
Nothing personal, I'm thinkin'.

Would you trade your lucky ten-dollar bill for a crisp, new fifty-dollar bill that has the ability to bring a 100-dollar return?
