interesting.. rather samll field for a race that usually brings out all the road racing experts...
only 48 entries.
I also noticed no Boris Said, no Scott Pruett,... Lot of the guys that didn't try at Sonoma aren't entered here...
very interesting...
Just 5 cars going home,... and IMO if no one messes up in qualifying... you can kinda pick those out in advance

And, only 39 entries for the Busch race... Huh?

some interesting notes for the cup race (from what I saw on Foxsports.com entry list)
PJ Jones and Terry Labonte in the 00 and 55 (as expected)
Regan Smith listed for the 01 ?
Patrick Carpentier in the 10

I'm surprised the Boris is not running the 60 in the Cup race.  He is in the 9 for the Busch race..

That IS surprising SJG.
I kinda figured this one was a "fer sure" race for Boris.

Cant quite figure that team out...there seems to be no rhyme or reason for when and where they race. I do wish Boris would runa tad more..I like the guy! Cool

I'm guessing that there weren't enough people buying No Fear Energy Drink

Buy more cases, Boris will run more races... Wink

You know, if they SOLD it more places....

This part of MD, there was only one place that carried it out of the local supermarkets, and they stopped carrying it about a week and a half ago in favor of the (flavorwise, IMO) inferior Jeff Gordon energy drink. I was not pleased, to say the least.

Ah well, at least he'll be there. And I'd wager that at the Glen, he might easily be the second most popular driver there when he races. Smiley

Also, let's get this out of the way now... *flails* Ohnoes!!! A short Busch field, the series is coming to an end!!!1!11 Come on Cup guys, repeat after me... all your buschspots are belong to us, you have no chance to survive, make your time. *coughs and ducks* Erm... sorry. Couldn't resist.

I don't think anyone has figured out the BGN series COULD be a total FLOP in 2008...
WHO in the CUP series is gonna run many BGN races when ALL the CUP races will be CoT,.. and the BGN series will run the "old" cars.
Drivers say now they learn "nothng" from running the BGN races when they race the two different cars,... so with it happening every race in 2008... I could see about NO CUP guys racing in the BGN field on a regular basis in 2008.
If that happens,... we'll have no full field in the BGN series... WHY
Because the CUP guys have had 20+ guys run for the last couple years and drove all the 'regular' BGN teams out.
Now when the CUP guys quit racing... no one will be left to race the BGN series.

Now Chris, no one?

Some people have - you for example. But those wise souls are in the minority, as the majority of fans say since the Busch series makes more money with Cup drivers in 2/3 of the spots, it must be good. The future is something to be burned when we come to it, or whatever the current conventional wisdom is.

That's right, all of you who feel that way, one simple thing - circle Labor Day on your calendar and repeat after me... if it makes more money, it's right. Smiley

I need less caffiene in my diet O.o

found on Jayski...

Boris Said will be running the 60 in the cup race

also this interesting tidbit
UPDATE 2: Robby Gordon Motorsports will field Australian Marcos Ambrose in the Busch Series rookie's Nextel Cup Series debut at Watkins Glen this weekend. After one of the most controversial incidents in NASCAR's recent history last weekend, Ambrose has accepted a "peace offering" from Gordon to drive the #77 Camping World Ford Fusion, which will also carry some signage from Ambrose's regular sponsor Kingsford Charcoal. Ambrose led 37 laps, more than any other driver in the NAPA Auto Parts 200 in Montreal last weekend and was on course to record his first NASCAR Busch Series win when he was turned around by Gordon while leading at the second corner at a restart with two laps remaining. As a penalty, Gordon was eliminated from the following day's Nextel Cup race, and while he strongly disagreed with the calls during the Busch race, he has accepted NASCAR's decision and wants to put the incident behind him. Ambrose will continue his NASCAR Busch campaign on Saturday in the #59 Kingsford Charcoal Ford Fusion for Wood Brothers/JTG Racing, but will now do "double duty" in the Robby Gordon Motorsports entry. Gordon will drive the #55 Verizon Wireless Ford Fusion in the Busch race and the #7 Jim Beam Ford Fusion in the Nextel Cup Series race. The Sunday event will be a joint effort between Robby Gordon Motorsports and Wood Brothers/JTG Racing, with Ambrose's regular Kingsford crew doing the pit work and his new Crew Chief Ernie Cope calling the shots from the box on Sunday. Ambrose was originally scheduled to make his Nextel Cup debut in a Wood Brothers/JTG Racing entry this weekend, but several circumstances meant the team had to put their plans on hold. Ambrose currently sits eighth in the Busch Series points and second in the Raybestos Rookie of the Year standings.(RGM/Wasserman Media Group PR)(8-7-2007)

WELL DUST..
when I say "no one' will be left to run the BGN series... what I am getting at is this.
ON the majority the BGN fields are being filled by the CUP teams n the past, and now.
If the CUP teams stop showing up because they can get no extra knowledge by running both series... then they'll quit doing it.  Why throw the money away.
So UNLESS a LOT of BGN teams step in and fill the openings in 2008,... there is no option but for the BGN fields to be short next season...
BGN teams have been shutting down all year as the season went along... I can't see any jumping up and opening just on a 'hope' there'll be openings next season.  EVen if some do open IMO they will be "sub par" what we might call field fillers and we'd be back to BGN fields like we had 10 years ago.

Like I have been saying for the last 4 or 5 years... all the CUP guys racing in the BGN series is a BAD thing no matter how you slice it.

Hey, I know... you've seen me making the same arguments just as long. I was saying no one in response to no one realizing the Busch series could be in deep desert doo. Smiley

I HOPE and PRAY that their are ONLY Busch drivers in the Busch Series next season. I know just about everyone on here know's how I feel about the "BuschWackers".

We may not see the Cup drivers but we will see their cars in the Busch Series.

If a driver such as Dale Jr can no longer learn anything from the Busch Series then his Development Driver sure can. Dale Jr has Jeremy McGrath and Curtis Truex running a Late Model Series but if he (Dale Jr) isn't going to run the Busch Series then why not let one of them run it. I may be wrong but I have a feeling were going to see alot of the Development Drivers names at Daytona in 2008.

I'm sure it will take a couple of years but I would like to see the Busch Series being used for what it was inteded which is to help drivers work their way up to the Cup Series.
