I been writing the folks in charge of the GoT for 3 days now to head off a problem,... so far I can't get anyone to write me back...
Here's the problem I see.
Looks like last week the #7 was listed as PJ Jones since Gordon was Parked... and it's still there THIS week

Well thats all screwed up now.
The #7 Is listed as Jones, and should be R Gordon....Gordon isn't lised anywhere,...
Jones should be Listed as the #00 (instead of Reutimann)
Stuff like that all up and down.
Waltrip isn't racing the #55 - T Labonte is
Carpentier is driving the #10 instead of Riggs... yet all the picks are listed wrong.

What I been trying to get verified is "When we pick are we picking the CAR HUMBER or the driver name... I have to assume you are picking the CAR NUMBER.  At least thats what I did.  I wrote in when I submitted my #7 pick I wanted R Gordon.
Hard to know exactly WHAT you are picking when the number says one thing, and the driver says another...
Of course thats why I been writing for three days.

I had the same question...and I was waiting for an answer, so I didn't make my picks from home last night.  Tried to make them from work this morning, but couldn't get through my company's smart filter.  I guess my picks from last week will roll over.

I've got Hamlin and Newman rolling over, so that shouldn't be too bad, but I would have much rather had Montoya over Yeley, Rudd over Ragan, and R.Gordon over Menard...

Well, stranger things have happened...

Well I know it's an oversight...
and that can happen...
But on the other hand when names / drivers are posted incorrectly,.. and I've wrote for three days trying to get clarification... and I KNOW other players have the same questions. It seems someone would answer me or correct the issue.

AT this point All I can see to do would be to match the drivers with the car numbers... and keep the picks open until an hour before the race starts..??  Seems only fair since all this confusion has been caused,.. and it would give everyone a chance to pick knowing who they are getting.... but thats just me.

Ya know... I don't mean for this to sound critial or condescending...
But you wrote in.. I wrote in FOUR days ago...
Now this post has been up a couple days,.. and you KNOW all (well some) of the admins visit the board EVERY DAY.
It's very hard for me to believe someone hadn't saw the post and could of notified the right folks in charge and put the word out what is going on and what they are doing, or can do.

I kinda get the feeling I'm gonna hear... "Oh gee we made a mistake.. we didn't know until it was too late,... while all along we have been writing and posting and telling them"  There's no excuse for that.
I can't see where us players that are alert and aware of the problem should be penalized because we were quick enough to spot the errors.... but the admins drug their feet and did nothing to correct the problem.
To alleviate this in the future... IMO they should list the car NUMBER and no driver name at all... That way when driver swaps happen,.. it's on the PLAYER to know who is driving the car and be on top of things.
Thats all part of being on your toes and part of the game... AND it avoids all this confusion..
Like I said before... thats just my 2 cents.

PS,.. I know it's all for fun,.. etc.. ANd I'm probably not gonna win anything anyway.  I just thik if you are gonna run something and give away prizes (even if it's for NO prizes)... if it's worth doing,.. it's worth doing right

I'm sorry for not seeing this thread sooner.  I have replied to the emails that came directly to me.

Scoring has always been done based on the car #.  So no matter what driver it shows, you get that car.  That has been on the rules page from day 1.

I ran the driver update through the software midweek and it picked up a few of them.  I have no control on when the software company updates their information.

When the team lineups were imported following the deadline, it shows the correct drivers in the correct car #s.  So no, you're not going to get a "geez we made a mistake" response.

All of the rosters are saved and I will make sure they are posted correctly before the scoring is shown on the site.

And yes prizes will be awarded.  We just don't have the entire prize package narrowed down so specifics haven't been posted.

Cami..
Thanks for the response...  Like I said,.. I know it was some kinda oversight so many drivers with different numbers, and I'n not trying to stir up anything.
Just several of us it seemed had the same question, and it created some confusion.
I know in the rules it stated
Quote
Select 1 driver from each of the five driver groups
Then like you pointed out later in the FAQ it said this
Quote
Drivers will earn points based on their car numbers. If a driver change is made during the race, players will receive points if they have picked the driver that started the race.
This makes it sound like (to me at least) and obvioulsy to other with the questions,.. this rules covers if a driver STARTS the race, and how it is handled if a relief driver get in for the 'original' driver.  Really don't sound like it is meant to cover making your picks.
I think that is why everyone is confused.
If folks were to be completely clear maybe it should have been just worded something to the effect that "car numbers are listed with the 'normal' drivers, but it driver substitutions are made prior to race time, picks will go by the CAR NUMBER"
Something alone those lines.  AT least everyone isn't left guess.
I've always been under the inpression that (like the prior road course event) when M Waltrip did not race you just did NOT pick him because to pick him would be foolish because HE wasn't in the race.
Never had any idea if I wanted to take T Labonte I would pick the #55 that said M Waltrip.

I guess hind sight is 20/20... and from this point on out we can all be on the same page
Thanks for clearing it all up.

Picking and scoring by car number is the only way to go.  With this game I didn't worry about what the name said as I figured the software just looks at the car number field and scores it. No money on the line, so I wasn't going to stress over it.

I think this race is just a little more difficult to stay on top of due to all the RC ringers.  On the other tracks, one pretty much knows a week or sometimes even more if a substitute driver will be in the field.  Not the case with a road course as it seems there's always something odd that happens last minute.  Boris into the #21 for example.   Smiley
