Not sure if hearing about reasons ''not to be cruel" to animals  can make much difference if  actually doing it didn't make an impact.  But I hope it does.

NORFOLK, Va. (Oct. 2) - Michael Vick was attentive and inquisitive during an eight-
hour class in empathy and animal protection at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals headquarters, a PETA spokesman said Tuesday.
Dan Shannon was with the suspended Atlanta Falcons quarterback for the duration of the class, taught by several PETA staff members. Vick is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 10 on a federal dogfighting conspiracy conviction. He also has been indicted on state dogfighting charges.

Vick was the only student for the Sept. 18 class, Shannon said.

"He was asking questions, following up on points we were making, taking notes," Shannon said. "He seemed to be putting an honest effort into trying to get something out of the course."

Shannon said Vick told him "he wished he had gotten to take a course like this five years ago." (uh huh I bet. He'd be a lot richer today )

Vick first visited PETA's offices in Norfolk on Sept. 7 and met with Ingrid Newkirk, the group's president. According to PETA's Web site, Vick apologized for his abuse of dogs.

Newkirk offered to make the course available to Vick, Shannon said.

"Actually, we were very surprised he took us up on it," he said. (he's thinking about how it will look at his trial... "Judge, he's voluntarily taking classes. He  is honestly sorry about what he's done) "We made it clear to him that this was something he needed to try to get something out of. We weren't interested in some kind of PR ploy. (when he asks to visit schools, to talk to kids about  how wrong it is, I might buy his "sorry")
He said PETA officials also told Vick they still believe he deserves prison time. (absolutly)Vick faces up to five years in prison in the federal case.

Shannon said Vick passed a "very rigorous" written test at the conclusion of the course.

PETA wants the NFL to require the course, or one like it, for all players, Shannon said.

Well I don't believe it for a second. Vick, Taking Notes, at a PETA class, Yeah Right.

He might have been taking notes but it was for ONE reason and ONE reason only and that's for the Judge to see he's trying to be a Good little Boy.

There is only ONE thing Vick is Sorry for.............He's Sorry he got Caught and now he's doing whatever he can in hopes the judge will take it easy on him.

Yeah I agree with Flammer...
One other point.... IMO I think he took the classes at the advice of his lawyer.  Notice how he took them BEFORE his sentencing date.
His trying to put on a show and make it appear for the judge he has "remorse" for what he did to the animals... thereby trying to get a lighter sentence for himself.  It's all about trying to make things better for HIMSELF

I'm like you FHH... the only thing he is TRULY sorry about is.... that he got caught.

Well like they say, GREAT mind's think alike.

Ya know here's the thing. I'm not much of an animal person but I can't stand to an innocent animal get abused for no reason.

For some reason my daughter used to have this thing about pet Birds but Jr8girl had this thing about NOT being able to clean out the cage without them flying away so the Bird thing stopped. Now we have a Minnature Hamster which of course "I" take care of so that could be why I don't want a bigger animal.

I DO NOT like "CATS". My mom and my aunt live together and they both have "CATS" and I can't stand when they come up and rub all up on me and the thing I really don't like is how they just STARE at you like their going to claw your eyes out, Creepy.

In the future I would like to maybe get a Minnature Pincher but WAY in the future lol.
