2008 Predictions

Well the season is over... think it's time to jump in and see if I can make SOME semblance of all the many picks we made, and see who was the best 'prognosticator' way back before the season started.

Fathead also picked 11 of 12 drivers to make the chase. He had Mears instead of Bowyer Fathead also predicted 8 wins for Toyota (by far the most wins picked for for Toyota this season) He said they'd be split up among the three Gibbs drivers. Pretty much right. Busch hogged them mostly. Stewart and Hamlin each got one. He also said Kyle Busch would have the better season than Dale Jr

JamesJ also picked 11 of the 12 drivers to make the chase. He missed Newman instead of Edwards. He also correctly picked Bowyer as the NNS champ. He correctly picked R SMith as the CUP RoY. He predicted the Toyotas would be competative with multiple wins, and said Kyle Busch would have the best season overall for Toyota. He also said Kyle Busch would have the better season than Dale Jr

BuschBabe picked 9 of the 12 in the chase. She also picked Colin Braun as CTS RoY and R Smith as CUP RoY. Like the two people above she though the Toyotas would run well, and the GIbbs team would perform well. Also like MOST people in the game,.. she thought Tony Stewart would get Toyota first win... oops. She WAS correct that J Johnson won the most poles (6) On the question of "How many NNS "regulars" would win a NNS race,.. she DID pick two of the guys that broke threw and won a race in their own series. Brad Kesolowski was one driver (actually he won twice) Marcus Ambros was another she picked. (Just for the record Joey Logano, Scott Wimmer, and Ron Fellows also won NNS races... ALL the rest of the NNS races were won by CUP regulars)

I guess I was the next person to do my "guesses". I picked 11 of the top 12 in the chase. I missed Harvick.. had Kurt Busch instead. I also had Bowyer as the NNS champ... and I had R Smith as the CUP RoY I was like everyone else (so far) and predicted Gibbs would be the best Toyota team and Hamlin would have one win,.. Stewart probably at LEAST one win... and I said Busch NO MORE than one win. (oops missed on that one... LOL) I said no other Toyota team would visit victory lane. "which driver will get first career wins" I think I been skipping this question... well truth is NO new drivers got their first career wins. But I have to say the folks that predicted David Ragan and David Reutimann sure were getting CLOSE there at the end of the season... (Oh me.. by the way, I predicted NO new drivers would get their first career win this season..

I did throw out the names of Scott Winner and Marcus Ambros as winner in the NNS series. . Thats about it for me... lol

Lets see... SJG is next... She had 8 of the 12 in the chase. SHE IS the first person to pick the WINNER of the chase correctly. She also picked R Smith as RoY correctly. She also said Gibbs would be the best Toyota Team, with wins for Stewart, Hamlin, and Busch... with Stewart having the most (2). She DID say Busch would get Toyotas first win. Finally she had Scott Wimmer as a winner in the NNS. not bad all in all.

Smoken was next... He also had 8 of the top 12 making the chase. he had Bowyer winning the NNS championship. and R Smith winning CUP RoY. Like the rest of us... He said Gibbs would do the best of the Toyota gang, and Toyotas would do better as a whole. He picked out Brad Kesoloski to win a NNS race, and had Kyle Bush having a better season than Jr.

ChromeHorn was next in our line of guessers... He picked 10 of the 12 to make the chase. He picked Bowyer to win the NNS championship AND ALSO picked Benson to win the CTS championship. For RoY he picked R Smith correct in the CUP series and also C Braun right in the CTS. As far as the question about the Toyotas. He had one of the best answers IMO. "Steady, but not stellar". They were good in most cases, but ONE car was great, but as a whole the group was just 'steady'. Toyotas were much improved, and Gibbs was the best of the group as he stated. He also predicted NO drivers would break threw and get their first career win.... and went on to ADD that Newman would break his winless streak. (He did at Daytona) He DID pick Ambros and Kesoloski as NNS winners... and was the only person (so far) to pick Dale Jr to win the Bud shootout.
SO far.. I think this set of picks is pretty impressive... Wink

FSBryan was next in line with picks. Bryan had 9 of the 12 in the chase. He ALSO picked Johnson as the Chase Champion; Bowyer as NNS champ; and Benson as CTS champ. He also picked R SMith as CUP RoY. He DID pick Toyotas would be much improved this season over last,.. but he also said Gibbs would do worse (oops). He also picked Dale Jr to win the Bud Shootout, and picked Ambros to win a NNS race. He did pick Jr to beter than Busch.. (oops again).. but on the 'upside'.. he is the only person to pick Hornish as the best openwheel driver of the season. Almost won RoY
Another good set of picks..

Flame (who seems to have disappeared... If anyone see's him.. send him this way, will ya..??)... anyway. He picked 11 of 12 guys in the chase. He also picked Benson to win the CTS... and C Braun to win CTS RoY.. Like the rest of us he said JGR would do much better (and added could possibly win a championship in the near future)... Could of been this year if bad luck hadn't happened to Busch.. He also pick Joey Logano and S Wimmer to win NNS races.

SO thats all the picks... Of all of us 'pickers' (LOL) it looks like ALL of us missed the winner of the All Star race. No one picked K Kahne. We all also missed the winner of the Daytona 500. No one picked Newman. All of us thought Stewart would be the 'best' driver on the JGR team... Busch was. No one correctly pick the NNS RoY - Landon Cassill (now it seems he'l be out of a ride for 2009)
I guess thats about it...
Sorry it's so long to read..... think about me.. had to research all this (and wrote it at same time)... and took over an hour to write it... ROFLOL
