MAN,.. Last week I kinda disagreed with the article Jeff wrote,...
THIS week,... MAN o MAN... he's 100% on the money,...
What a jack-ass this guy is becoming...
EVERY time something happens it's the same old broken record,... "Those guys need to learn how to give and take more"... GEE,.. when does HE ever do any "giving"...
Looks like he's starting to become more and more like the "old" Tony,...
I guess because he's the reigning champion he thinks he has some special privilages.
I think Carl Edwards said it PERFECT in his post race interview...

There you go again...start bashing Tony again. There are always two sides to a story. Bowyer could have given little room rather than blocking so early in the race and putting someone in the wall. He could have easily moved over a bit. I agree that Tony could have used a little better judgement and let this one go. He definitely had a top 5 car but used some poor judgement. I know he didn't intend to take Edwards out...Edwards was just an innocent victim of this mess. I feel bad for him.

There will be lot more aggression from lot of drivers as the cutoff date comes closer. This is a sheer byProduct of Chase format and I guess this is what NASCAR wanted.

Oh boy I KNEW this was going to be the hot topic when I got back home. Nevermind the fact that the 22 thought he was at daytona and that it was okay to bump draft and wrecked Jr. That is okay because well it wasen't Tony who did it. As for that whole crap that went on today with Tony, Clint and Carl  I hated to see it happen. Saying that tough I'm sorry but I do not feel bad for Clint or Carl nor did I feel bad for Tony when he got spun on pit road. Clint put Tony into the wall and I think we all knew that he was not going to get away with that. Should Tony have done what he did? No but by god he was mad at getting put into the wall early on in the race. Yes Carl was the innocent bystander and I did feel bad for him right after that but that didn't last long. I thought it was actually pretty funny when he spun Tony on pit road. Reminded me of when Tony did that to Jeff. Heck even Tony didn't get all mad about getting spun on pit road. I think he knew it hurt Carl more then himself. It was what Carl did AFTER that that made me not feel bad for him. It is one thing to get your point across that you are mad at the guy but it is a whole other thing when you CONT to run into the guy. I haven't watched the race on tv yet so I don't know if they showed it on tv but Carl got into Tony a few more times after that. You got your point across Carl, no need to do all that other crap.

I missed the end of the race and the after race interviews but, I know there is a lot of stuff complicating the matter here that only the involved know for sure...

When did Bowyer's spotter announce Stewart was outside?  Did he specify exactly where Stewart was in relation to Bowyer - i/e "at your fender", "at your door"...

Did Bowyer know Stewart was there?  That right side headrest pretty much blocks the drivers view out the whole right side.

Hard racing is what it seemed to be to me...  I think they were both "at fault" - if you have to place blame.

Bowyer didn't want to lose a position and drifted a little wide into the corner.  Stewart "crime" was being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Tony could have made a more subtle move later in the race to show his appreciation to Bowyer.  But - we all know that's not Tony's way.

If he only had not thrown that bird out of the window and then turned left into Bowyer.  The turn into Bowyer could have been perceived as a reaction to hitting the wall.  Flying the bird shows "intent".

TEMPERS Were a little out of control today and will only get worse as the race for the chase winds down ... I don't blame Carl for hitting tony a few times he probably thinks Tony cost him a chance at getting closer to the top 10 and pretty much ended his chance to get into the champinship race picture

Cousin Carl (like the TV crew call him) got the taste of big league racing. It's not like he has never done anything wrong. I remember last year he was beating and banging on Dale Jarret. It's only his "Aw Shucks" demeanor and "I'm so happy to be in NASCAR" attitude that gives him the benefit of doubt all the time. He has himself caused plenty of wrecks and have beaten and banged with other drivers. He retaliated enough on the race track and his temper got the best of him too. As a result he went two laps down and never recovered. He tried hard to end Tony's day. I particularly disliked his post race comments about giving Tony a bloody face. It was kind of immature on his part. If he is so gutsy why didn't he just confronted Tony rather than barking in front of the media. I am sure his pearly teeth wouldn't have stayed the same either.  Wink

I was at the race sitting even with the entrance to pit road..  I pointed to 07/20 and said something is going to happen there, just before it did.  Many people were wobbling as they came through the end of turn 3.  When Clint went up on Tony it was probably because Clint was over driving and accidentally hit Tony.  I saw the replay on tv, which was from a slightly different angle than the view we had.  Tony definitely meant to come down.  It wasn't just a response from hitting the wall wobble.  I say that because he barely even nicked the wall.  There was no sheet metal damage to Tony.

The worst part of it is the danger that Carl was put into.  When he started to spin, he was headed right for the separator to pit road.  I thought, on no, he's gonna hit that and he's going to get hurt.  I had that chill run right through me and just as fast, thank God, Carl corrected it enough to come back towards the track.  The whole thing made me angry because it is just standard driving for Tony.  This guy may be a fun, generous guy off the track but he is a menace to all the other drivers when he is on the track.  He has no room for talking about rough driving, as he did in Daytona.  I think NASCAR should make a clip of all the wrecks he has caused over just the past couple of years and force him to watch it.  MAYBE he would think twice before letting his temper get the better of him (and others).

I watched the Pole qualifying the night that Ryan got his first pole in Charlotte back in 01.  They had a ARCA race afterwards.  I saw Blaze Alexander die after bumping with Kerry Earnhardt.  His car came to rest, literally just yards directly in front of me.  I saw him slumped over towards the steering wheel.  Guys, this is serious stuff.  I don't want to watch anybody else die.

This is exactly my thoughts of how Tony is becoming again...  I think he needs Joe Gibbs to sit him down and give him a good @$$ chewing again.  He's getting out of line.

As far as the incident that started the WHOLE thing between Clint and Tony,.. I think Racer Giant pretty much hit it on the head.
I USED to spot for a driver on the NASCAR circuit.  First off,.. Tony HAD to know if he tried to pass on the OUTSIDE there he was POSSIBLY putting himself in harms way.  THE LINE is to come out of that corner and to drift out as close to the wall as possible.  Next,.. the cars were handling so that they were AUTOMATICALLY going out to the wall even if the drivers tried to keep them away from the wall...  so to keep them an extra lane away to make room for Tony would have been a handful.
To be honest,... Bowyer DID leave a lane,... Tony looked like he just THOUGHT Bowyer was GOING to make him hit the wall and hit the wall on his own.  If you look there was a good space between Tony's car and Clints car when he knicked the wall.... so there was no point ins Tony even hitting the wall in the FIRST place,... Cliint did LEAVE him a lane between himself and the wall.

Tony created his OWN problems.... PLAIN AND SIMPLE.  No one can make any excuses for him.  As HE himself said.  "Drivers should show more give and take".  This is a place where he should of showed MORE GIVE and waited just a FEW SECONDS until the hit the straight away and then made his more.
Tony can talk a good game when it comes to everyone else,... but he fails miserably to follow his own advice.  The first step to gaining RESPECT ON the track is to lead by example,... He does a very poor job of that.

I think it would have been poetic justice if there had been a good long run and the leader would have been able to run down Tony and lap him again.  He should have had the same fate of the cars he wrecked with his pig-headed ignorance.  It's a shame he was rewarded for driving like an idiot.  NOT that I don't WANT Tony to make the chase,.. but when he does something like he did yesterday and THEN gets a good result anyway,.. if just reinforces it.  THAT part is a shame,.. and DOES NOT make him think twice before doing it again NEXT time.

Intresting comments from Jeff.

Q. Tony Stewart just said that if you ask any of the veteran guys in this garage that they'll tell you that he races fair. I guess I'm asking you, does Tony Stewart race fair?

JEFF GORDON: All but one or two times that I've been with him. You take that for however you want. Other than Watkins Glen and Dover, that's I'd say the only two times I'd say no to that. But other than that, he races pretty fair.

Funny how everybody wants to bash Gordon,...
But he's a "great guy" when he suits their purpose....  hhuummm Huh?

and..... If you think about it,.. Gordon has NOT been able to run up front a whole lot (or they have't run together) in the most recent few years.
I can think of MANY instances off the top of my head....
uumm... Lets see didn't he had a run in just LAST week with Newman,.. I think R. Gordon would have something to say different,.. maybe Boris Said,... Jimmy Johnson... gosh no telling WHAT kinda list I could come up with if I sat and tried.
Let's face it,... until the Busch boys recently,....Stewart WAS Nascar's BAD BOY

Well shame on Tony...that was a boneheaded move he made.  Had Tony not recovered for a top 10 finish, he would have had no one to blame but himself.  Carl Edwards was the innocent bystander, but he  made himself more than that when he spun Tony on pit road...so that was a bonehead move too.  I don't see blame being placed on any one driver in this case.

Ah, yes, but Bowyer didn't INTEND to run Tony into the wall...he never touched him...however, he WAS in the process of passing him, and as we've seen time and time again, cars tend to wash up in the corner...could Bowyer have backed off?? Sure, and I'd say if he had just had his nose inside Tony's rear quarter panel, then that WOULD have been the best move...BUT he was even with Tony and moving up...maybe TONY should have backed off.

I'm a Tony fan, but I'm VERY mad at him right now...an apology to Carl would go a long way towards making a lot of people, Carl included, feel better about him right now, but no, instead we get "I don't know what was wrong with Carl, I didn't touch him all day and he hit me twice!"

Well, DUH, Tony...had places been switched, and Carl caused the wreck that might possibly have ended your chance at getting into the Chase, not to mention a chance at contending for the win, would YOU have sat back and said "Oh, well, that's the way the cookie crumbles??" Nope, you would have WRECKED Carl back...

Tony has approached all of this the wrong way, and pretending he can't understand why Carl is ticked at him...that's just STUPID!!  Roll Eyes

And yes, Carl should NOT have spun Tony, but on the radio just prior to that, he asked what exactly happened when he got wrecked, and Bobby (his spotter) told him...Tony just turned left into Bowyer...so now Carl had someone to focus his mad on.

You should have heard the cheer that went up on the Carl board when he did that!! We KNEW he'd get penalized for it, but we cheered anyway...Cheesy

Carl admitted it was the wrong thing to do, agreed with NASCAR's penalty for it, and apologized (although when he apologized on the radio, he made the distinction that he was apologizing for hitting Tony on pit lane...LOL) He made the wrong move, and got penalized for it.
