There is an interesting article in ESPN the Magazine by Ryan McGee regarding Aaron Fike and his drug use. Aaron talks about his progression from prescription pain killers to heroin. He also says that he ran CTS races while using heroin daily.
Article also questions Nascar testing policies...

Rusty was on with Nicole Manske a little while ago and it sounds like he has his own policy when it comes to hiring and drugs. Sounds better than Nascar's !!

Rusty said anybody who don't look right to him won't get hired. Everyone gets tested all the time, especially pit crews !!!
No exceptions !!!!!!!

I don't know about pit crews having to be strickly monitored for drugs but the drivers sure need to.
Fike "broke the faith", and exposed a very scary possible scenario. They gotta do something now.

Aaron Fikes family and friends didn't notice any changes in the way he acted. People addicted to drugs can be very good at hiding their addiction. He was.

I think if I was driving at speeds apporaching 200 mph, I'd like to know if the guy who put on my lug nuts was clean and sober...

I'd be equally concerned that they weren't using a performance ENHANCING drug.
The officials usually catch loose lug nuts -- but if pit stops only took 5 seconds,
I'd be suspicious.
