Hey guys,

So, call me old-fashioned, but I was kind of disappointed to find out that Carl Edwards can get angry after all. I think a lot of people are misinterpreting my column based on the comments I've read so far under the article. Don't get me wrong...Carl had EVERY RIGHT to be angry...what Tony did was clearly intentional and ridicuous, and Carl was completely innocent and shouldn't have been involved in the wreck...yet he STILL got the finger from Stewart when HE was the VICTIM!

The thing is, though, Carl's so incredibly nice, so unlike anything we've seen in NASCAR racing before that I was hoping against hope he didn't have an angry bone in his body. By losing his cool a bit, he did do a little bit of dropping down to Stewart's level, justified as it was...as hard as it would have been, if Carl had taken the high road in that situation I don't think anyone involved in NASCAR in any level could have any sort of disrespect for that guy, ever again.

I just had to LOL when he spun Tony on pit road. I mean sure he got his point across but he ended up hurting himself more then it hurt Tony. He was just as dumb as Tony was earlier on in the race.  After the race though is when I really lost all respect for Carl. It is one thing to be mad but it is another thing to be going around calling for him to be able to make Tony bleed. Totally showed no class from Carl.

This is just too funny how everyone wants to turn it around and make it about Carl!  Talk about no class! Tony was about as classless as I've ever seen anyone last Sunday. Devotion to your favorite driver is one thing, but BLIND devotion and admoration no matter what your man does? Thank God Tony Stewart is not Hitler!

This thread is about Carl!! And yes I can admit when Tony has done something wrong but that doesn't mean I'm going to stop being his fan. I'm not a fair-weather fan like so many other fans. Fact is is that Tony was WRONG and Carl was WRONG as well. Both of them acted like idiots during the race.

You know, if you don't put people up on a pedestal, they can't let you down!  What did you expect Tom!?  The only time there will be a PERFECT driver in NASCAR is if Morgan Shephard can talk his SPONSOR into driving his car!

Your article was posted over on the Carl board at RR...and the responses have been positive...WE knew what you meant!! WE also knew that Carl may be laid back, but he won't be run over...and that he reacts when wronged. It's a great article, Tom.

Ok, so that means you made up your mind and no matter what proof you have that Tony does not deserve your adoration, you are going to adore him?  Kind of reminds me of the folks who say we didn't land on the moon or the ones who believe in ET or Bigfoot.  Don't bother them with facts.  They are bound and determined to believe the way they do.

I like Carl ok, but he's not my number one driver.  Tony is one of my least favorites because he couldn't care less about anyone but himself, whenever he is on the track.  I truly believe that Tony could kill someone out there and he'd probably gain fans.  This world is soooo backwards.  Good ethics are looked upon with scorn today.  Don't tell me what a good guy Tony is off the track.  Show me that he can drive without knocking people out of the way.

A good driver?  Perhaps the best, but only when he drives clean.  I don't mind tapping people out of the way.  I just mind it when he knocks them into the wall.  After what happened to him at Daytona in 2001, I'd think he'd be one of the first to drive safely.

I'm not going to waste any more time worrying about how many times Tony causes wrecks.  NASCAR doesn't care, so as Tony Soprano would say, "What ya gonna do?"

if we wanted to watch good drivers the race would be boring as hell not everybody likes it plain vanilla flavored the controversial drivers add excitement to the race. Brian France is making it bland anyway let them race.
