We've had a couple excellent book reviews here on FS...now what's YOUR favorite NASCAR-related book?

I have two:  "Second to None" by Rick Houston, about the Busch Series and "A Little Bit Sideways" about a week inside a small, single car Cup team in the late 1990's-some of what it says about thaose teams is twice as relevant these days.  Not to mention, the driver is Kenny Wallace, my favorite driver as well as a friend!

I'm kinda partial to NASCAR for Dummies....it was great help when writing a speech for my speech class in college.  NASCAR Generations is another good one.

I guess I'm a little partial... but I enjoyed
Fastest Man Alive
It's about Bill Elliott
Needless to say it was PRE-restrictor plate days (actually I think it was released about 1989)
Pretty good read.

Another favorite book I got is (it's not Nascar)
A Hand For The Wheel - The Mel Kenyon Story

It's about Mel Kenyon.  Mel came to race his miget car when I was the flagman at Peach State Speedway in GA.  He gave me an autographed copy.  The story tells of Mels career, and of his struggles to overcome his flaming indy car crash where he had 3rd degree burns over 50% of his body, and lost 3 fingers on his left hand.  He also escaped death at Indy in an incident know as "The Miracle at Turn Three".
Mel still races (or did at this time) with a special glove he wears on his left hand he laces on.  It has a socket type device made to it, and it fits onto the steering wheel, and thats how he "holds" the wheel with his left hand.

Skool... If you ever get around Ken Schrader... You should ask him to tell you about Mel.  He raced against him.  I'm sure he could tell you some good stories

I really liked the one I read and did a review on about cheating.

I could tell you one I DIDN'T like!  But you'll find out once I get my review done, hopefully it will be up this week.

I know lots of people don't like him, but I really enjoyed Darryl Waltrip's book.  But then again, I've enjoyed just about every NASCAR-related book I've read.

I read the book from Jeff Hammond "Real Men Work in the Pits"...  Got it for Christmas and thought it was pretty good and very accurate...

Got to know another side of good ol' DW too...

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY . . .

When I go to casinos, the most ridiculous sign I see is the one that says:
"If you have a gambling problem, call 1-800-GAMBLER."

So, I call them and say,
"I have an ace and a six. The dealer has a seven. What do I do?"
