Kyle Bush has been disliked for about as long as he's been in Cup. For a variety of reasons, mostly good. Hey It takes something special to piss off an entire nation. At least he was smart enough to let Mexico cool off for 2 years, before venturing back.
Then he hit the mother load. When he got another nation after his scalp. That would be the Jr. Nation. He's sticking it his detractors in the most satisfying way. By Winning!
I know the majority of NA$CAR fans have long standing allegiances to their favorite drivers. However the sport has also, always had vast numbers of the fickle "Band Wagon" variety. He should now be picking these in Droves. Lines outside the merchandise trailer should be getting much longer. If he keeps the on track performance up. Maybe even (gasp, dare I say it?)
Wins the Cup championship. Even a couple of championships are a possibility this season. Then the cheers, & the boos should be about equal next season!
While I personally admire his talent. I won't have to worry about finding a place on the bandwagon.

I couldn't have said it better myself.
And Heaven knows I've tried.

there's no denying that he is a good driver...but he's a punk, and he embraces his "punk" persona

There are some people that are and will always be bandwagon fans.  Back when my favorite driver was Jeff Gordon and it changed to Kurt Busch, I was accused of being a Jeff Gordon bandwagon fan by other Jeff Gordon fans (not here though).  Kyle's not the only one that'll have bandwagon fans.  I don't doubt that Jimmie Johnson probably gained a few the last two seasons.  I never have liked Kyle Busch, and I like him less now (I can't stand him running in the truck series!).

I don't do bandwagons.  I've been a Kenny Wallace fan forever and will be one as long as he races anything with wheels.  I've been a fan of Jimmie Johnson since his rookie year in the Busch Series.  I won't be changing my alliances any time soon, and it certainly won't be to Kyle Busch, who has as much class as a babboon with a bug in his backside.

I don't do bandwagons either. I picked my driver without even knowing he was a winning NASCAR driver. I only picked him because my dad told me that he ran the Indy 500 only a few hours ago and I thought that was awesome.  I do like Kyle Busch but I wont be going out to buy any of his t-shirts any time soon.

I suppose when I throw out a post like this, in the interest of full disclosure. I should say who My favorite is so any KB fans out there can take a shot at me, if they're so inclined.

I've pretty much spent my entire life going in the out door, & running the other way whenever I hear a band coming.

I started following NA$CAR to keep up with Ed Negre. Because he raced locally, & I had become acquainted with him. In the 70's I had to subscribe to NSSN to keep up.

In the 80's my guy was Lake Speed. Stuck w/him until he was injured, & retired.

Next was Jimmy Spencer, until the rides dried up for him.

Currently it's Robby Gordon, With Dave Blaney. As my fallback guy. If Robby falls out. Plenty of room on Robby's wagon in case anyone wants to climb on board. Be happy to give you a hand up.

Apparently, the Harvick fans came up with a new name for Shrub. Consider this:

HOWDY DOODY

ROWDY DOODY

And one of the CEDiehards contributed this as a good likeness of him:

(BTW, Dale Sr was THE guy I loved to hate in the late 90s... Grin)

Ed Negre... now theres a blast from the past... (welcome old timer.)
I remember seeing him race.   He ran back in the days of Dick May, GC Spencer, HB Bailey, Cecil Gordon,... gee who else can I pull out of my memory banks...
Thats been many moons ago.
