NA$CAR is now down to 43 fulltime teams.
Two of them were the Go-Home cars this week.
Can Morgan Shepard's Ride, & Park, program, be set for a comeback? Maybe Joe Ruttman, after all if you don't bring a pit crew. Haul it in on an open trailer. Refill your cans with free Sunoco fuel, then pour it in the pickup to start the trip home. Well even at 4.00 a gal gas, that dog should hunt.
As much as I like JJ Yealey, & I do like him. If I were making the decisions for the 96 team. I think I'd be trying someone like Johnny Benson, because what they've got clearly isn't working.
To paraphrase Dylan, " The NA$CAR times, they are a-changing." Just wondering if Brian is going to be able to keep up with these changes? He still reminds me of the rich kid who paid for the party. So the other kids would let him come.

Benson...  ??
How about RAINES... He drove the car last season and was NEVER CLOSE to being out of the top 35... some thanks he got... lost his ride.
If I was him I'd be sitting somewhere with a big smile on my face right now....
It was another case of "fixing what aint broke"  That team just need to keep doing what they were doing with Raines and build on it.

As far as start and park teams... might see some..??  never say never
NASCAR is getting very VERY close to pricing itself right out of business.
20 million dollar to fund a race team is crazy.  They did in on two or three million just a few years back...
With the nations economy going down the tubes,.. this is going to be "discretionary spending" for ALL the sponsors in the sport.  If teams can't cut the sponsor packages in 1/2 within the next 5 years... and the economy keeps on like it is... we could see NO SPONSORS... or no racing.  The race team owners have done this to themselves...

I'm with you about Tony, Chris...we Edheads felt so bad for him, we felt we needed to support him by coming out to one of his signings at Richmond last year....

The grin is courtesy of my buddy Pam (the one in the middle) who thought it was a shame he looked so blue...so tickled him and said "Coochie, coochie, coo!!" We laughed so hard, and he did too...and we were still laughing when we ran into his wife outside, and told her what we had been up to. She thought it was hilarious. Cheesy

Although I really like Johnny Benson, I agree with Chris. Raines got shafted and I said at the beginning of the year, I hope the 96 team fall flat on their faces!  Go Tony Raines!

No disrespect to Tony, intended. My main point, was that IMO, a change is sorely needed. If this team is going to be able to hang onto DLP, & continue as a viable competitor.
The reason Johnny came to mind, is that #1 not only do I like Johnny, but more importantly, I admire how he races. He was in position to win several races, before he picked up his win. All he had to do was knock someone out of the way. In fact James Ince, his CC was on his case for not doing it.
#2 He is, IMO, a very smart, & underrated driver. As well as a strong, solid racer. as evidenced by his Busch Championship, & his results in the trucks.
#3, & probably most importantly, as people who know. Say the CoC races more like the trucks, this could help. But the main reason I threw out his name, is that I really don't feel that ALL the problems this team is experiencing now are driver related. Johnny has much more experience than either JJ, or Tony. He might be able to be more help, in getting them beck to where they need to be. Sort of the same as putting Skinner in the Red Bull car.
In short, if I thought the prob. was all driver. Then it's an easier fix. I really don't, so I think you need good, experienced driver. I think Johnny was always much better than his NB3 equipment allowed him to show.
However they choose, I think they only have one shot, & not much time to take it.

They should try Sorenson in that 96 next year.  I think he is a better driver than Yeley.

Funny how it's SOOOO easy for us to see what's going on,.. but it takes the teams (or NASCAR) a while to catch on.
FINALLY Yeley has been let go and someone else is going to get the ride.

Of course who they are putting in will do no more for the team in the short run than Yeley has.... like Raines or Benson
They need someone with experience to get the team turned around.  Not some rookie who won't be able to contribute and will have to be brought up to speed in a CUP car.

Looks like change for the 96.  They are putting Brad Coleman in there starting at MIS.  He is a developmental driver for JGR.  Nice choice for a sponsor looking for an up and comer.
