yeah right.
Anyone else notice how the 24 and 88, and the 48 especially on leaving their respective pits went from their pit stalls directly to the (3rd lane ) far RH (outside) side of pit road to block anyone from getting past them??. That often forced on coming cars, or cars next to them off the track ,into the grass, into other cars, having to brake hard,or to take evasive action to avoid hitting them??
Oh yes that is HMS integrity alright! Lets all play fair and just beat em on the track.
Didnt notice the wayward, forgotten Mears team doing this ...course they were seldom or never shown on pit road either so I really dont know what they did.
Im just saying that this seemed to be a concerted and preplanned strategy, not an individual team "error",or decision.
I for one dont care for those "tactics". I understand wanting to gain position on pit road but this is gonna get a car (or more then one) wrecked, or someone on pit road hurt after someone finally has enoughof it, or someone doesnt react quickly enough to avoid an accident,or gets rear ended by a car behind them.
Course...I guess that really wont matter as HMS will at least get "their" spot at
any
cost, even to the point of wrecking a competitor or hurting a pit crew member, or NASCAR official when somethijng eventually happens. In their minds such a small price to pay Im sure.
Of course too..Im betting those same HMS teams will be the first to cry how dangerous or unfair that practice is when someone either a) does that same thing to them, or b) runs into, and wrecks one of the "golden boys".
HMS Integrity BAH!
On another rant...
I LOVE how announcers seem to invariably point out that if an HMS car is on the inside of a turn, and "drifts up" into another car on the outside, the
other
car is said to be at fault ,racing to hard, etc. and is should back off and let them (HMS car)come up.
BUT..if the
outside
car is an HMS car the i
nside
car is then wrong, and should have let off the gas , not giving enough room, etc., to avoid "drifting up" into the car (HMS car) on the outside.
Yeah..certainly no double standard there
PS I espically enjoyed the nearly 10 minute unbroken focus on, and lovely talk about the #24 early in the race when he was back in ..ohh about #23rd or so , and Menard was leading the race. If i had just tuned in i would have certianly thought
Gordon was the leader as thats alll that was shown during that time.
Ohh.. and lest I forget..I was touched by the segment where they tracked down the wonderful "Mr. H" (Complete with a genuine Mr. H hat no less
) to see who he would root for when it appeared 3 of his cars would surely be finishing 1,2,and 3 early on.
Guess that became a moot point though huh?
Maybe its just me....

Tell us how you really feel about HMS. LOL
I really noticed the 48 forcing cars to either check up or go into the grass on pit road. He was doing it to his teammates as well. I don't know if you can blame it on the driver though. He can't see. Thats the spotter or crew chief's job.

Nascar in bed with Hendrick! Film at 11!
Ugh. I hate HMS, but watching gordon spin to start the GWC was almost as good as watching jimmie end up drving straight into the wall. I wish they'd wreck more often. I just replay it over and over and over.

Good Point about driver visibility TF20 and I had even thought that
that
was one excuse HMS
might
just try to explain it....but..on thnking about it a bit.....wouldnt
that
very thing in fact be a really good reason to
NOT
go all the way to the grass ?? You know, stay kinda low for a bit to be sure youre clear and then going on over would make a LOT more sense wouldnt it??
They werent forced over either. THAT I could go along with to a degree, but it simply doesnt hold water here. They simply drove directly across pit road to the outsdie lane it appeared to me by design..The 24 and 88 both did the same thing just not as often (or not seen on TV as often as the 48).
I think that lil foulup of blocking one of their own (was it the 24?) was simply a miscue personally. It appears they didnt have that lil bug worked out yet...to
NOT
do that to one of their own. I think they were just simply instructed that when ya pull out of your stall go clear out to the 3rd lane. Im sure that lil bug will be fixed by next week and it wont happen to one of theirs again.

Im truly glad no one was hurt, but I do readily admit I laughed out loud and even said. "YES! Aint karma a B?" when that happened!!;D

That is true-the driver is completely dependent on the crew chief to clear him in the pits. I know in Jimmie's case, Chad was telling him to go to the grass. I have NO idea why. It is true you have to in gain all you can on pit road with these cars, but that was ridiculous. Only thing i could think of was that he WAS clear and byt he time Chad got the words out, that was no longer the case. Jimmie's a bad plate driver, but he's not dirty by any stretch.
As for that HMS "integrity" they really showed it when they promised Casey Mears he had a job through the end of next year. Which lasted until Mark Martin became available. And they're really just using Mark to fill the seat for a year and look good for the sponsor, not because he's in their long term plans.

Blu, I'm glad you are up and around but you need some Valium or something, buddy. Relax. I think you take it a little far to question integrity. It doesn't even enter the equation. As was mentioned, The driver does what he is told. I didn't like Jimmie swinging all the way out to the grass, but everyone knows there is limited sight in these cars. Again, he does what he is told.
As a 24 fan, even I thought it was goofy that they were talking so much about Jeff in the early part of the show. It didn't make sense. It isn't Jeff's fault though. He had nothing to do with where the focus was. Maybe it's that Jeff is the second most popular driver and many of his fans are fairly recent. Being that it happened early in the race they were trying to get the fans to keep watching. Remember, it was on a holiday weekend and at night. Lots of folks who don't always watch NASCAR had their eyes on this race.
It seems you are looking for things to be offended by. Just my little ole opinion.

Well I guess it must be my time to Chime in since Mark Martin is about to become a Team Member of HMS in 2009 ! As far as Rick Hendrik , he has a great stable of Drivers ! As I have often in the past stated I admire Jeff Gordon's ability but do not respect his persona . As for JJ I think he is a excellent driver and person . But believe both will learn a lot from the addition of Martin . As far as the two yr. deal Mark has agreed to , I hope he can win a few more Races . I really never got in to Hendrik's run in with the Fed's . As far as a business man he must be doing something right ! As far as honesty , I really think most Owners push the line when it comes down to integrity ! As far as the latest issue on Pit Road , I was rather surprised
with what transpired with JJ ? Team Orders ? I doubt it ! An accident ? once perhaps but twice..huuum ?

I find it interesting that Hendrick has admitted that he's tried many times over the years to woo Mark away from Roush....
