found this on Jayski...

Teresa Earnhardt Looking to sell DEI? Sirius NASCAR Radio's Sirius Speedway is reporting today that Teresa Earnhardt has enlisted the services of Bear, Stearns and Company to find a buyer -- or at least a major financial investor -- for Dale Earnhardt, Inc. Bear Stearns is an investment bank, securities trading and brokerage firm based in New York City, and has been charged with finding a buyer for the entire operation. Barring that, Earnhardt is said to be interested in selling at least a minority interest in the team. DEI President of Global Operations Max Siegel declined to comment on the story when contacted earlier today.(Sirius NASCAR Radio's Sirius Speedway)(7-7-2008)

Perfect opportunity for Dale Jr to buy DEI...
NOW he has to be smart about it.
First if Theresa even THINKS he wants it --- the price to him will skyrocket...
So he has to act like he NOT interested...
Then if he Does want DEI lock stock and barrel... he neds to get a 'shill' bigger (buyer) to 'represent' him ot act as his agent.
It's done all the time is major businesses, especially if a competitor wants to buy out someone... usually in a hostile takeover.
Anyway,.. he could get someone to represent him, do all the negotiating for him, etc.. then when all the paperwork is done, all finalized, signed, etc... then he could let the cat out of the bag and let it be known HE was the one that bought DEI

Maybe thats a deal he and Tony could get into.  Jr a majorty owner, and Tony a minority owner..??
Maybe he could work out a deal with Hendrick... Own DEI and drive for Hendrick (for now).
MAN talk about a powerhouse.
Wjat if HMS, got together with Haas/Stewart,.. then a deal came along that added DEI.  A possibe 12 car team... Hendrick motors, DEI aerodynamics... WOW...

Why couldn't he. That's what his dad did! Drove for RCR, and owned DEI.  No stretch of the imagination for Jr. (and tony) to do it!

Yep.. You and I thinking the same way...
I know it's impossible... but if this deal came together "fast" enough... dominos could fall completely different than people are looking now.
Truex could STAY at DEI if Jr owned it..   Be curious to see who else DEI might add as drivers.  Menard might stay on (rumors of Daddy Menard shoppng his sponsorship elsewhere)... You see what I am getting at...
Could throw a monkey wrench in the whole process.

Of course it could get the ball rolling for NEXT YEAR

If I were Jr, what I would do....and mostly just out of spite.....is make an agreement with with some investment firm or whomever, that THEY buy DEI outright, with no involvment whatsoever by Jr, and then agree to buy it from them for say 10mil more than they paid.

That way there would be no worries about anything leaking about them 'representing' him, because in truth they would not be. Make it totally two seperate deals.

The reason for this is because if there is ONE TINY BIT OF SPECULATION that Jr is involved, Teresa would jack the price. You know she would.

And it has to be a TOTAL buyout. No Teresa left at all!  Personally, just out on the open market, I don't think you will see a big 'buying frenzy' to get DEI.  A total buyout by anyone but Jr. will mean the end of DEI as an entity.  You know Teresa isn't going to sell any rights to the name Dale Earnhardt, so anyone who buys it, (if they are smart) will insist that they are just buying the operation and NOT the name!

Junior on the other hand, once he were to get it in the prescibed manor above, actually COULD re-name it 'DEI2' or something. He is afterall, a Dale Earnhardt  Wink

But mark my words, I don't think you are going to see as much interest or it sell for as much as some people think!   Whatever happens, anysane person would insist that Teresa be totally gone!

from Jayski...

UPDATE: Max Siegel, President of Global Operations at DEI is currently in negotiations with major investors to buy Teresa Earnhardt out of DEI, a source close to the negotiations said Monday. It appears now that Teresa is finally willing to sell, and Siegel is working diligently with a number of potential investors to take the company over. Sources said Siegel would not just be buying a portion of DEI or a controlling interest, rather, he would be buying the entire company. Sources said, Teresa has agreed to walk away from the company entirely for the right price. That price is supposedly somewhere between $115-$130 million dollars. With one exception...Teresa would retain the rights to all "Dale Earnhardt' and 'Intimidator' rights and merchandise sales. Siegel would only be buying the DEI race teams, and real estate including all race shops and the DEI headquarters in Mooresville, NC. Sources said Siegel is very serious about the purchase and appears to have investors salivating over the opportunity to own the legendary team. In addition, Teresa has grown more frustrated with NASCAR nation following her fall-out with the sports most popular driver, and wants nothing more than to be out of the public eye for good.(Captain Thunder Racing)(7-8-2008)

What a shame. Dale Sr. worked his ass off to have this POS destroy DEI.

St. Teresa's legacy will be "The POS that destroyed DEI."
