UPDATE 2 reports refuted: Dale Earnhardt, Inc. is not for sale -- right now. DEI president Max Siegel on Tuesday refuted an Internet report that company owner Teresa Earnhardt had commissioned investment banking firm Bear, Stearns & Co., Inc. to locate a buyer or financial investment partner. "We have not engaged Bear, Stearns or Goldman Sachs or anyone else," Siegel said. "We are contacted all the time by outside firms about getting involved in the sport. We are not for sale right now. Nothing is imminent. Are we constantly weighing that as an option? Does that make sense? Quite frankly, we don't know," Siegel said. "Every team is looking for a way to bring in appropriate resources. Every single one. We haven't engaged anybody. People obviously approach us -- they're approaching everybody. We're looking to be around for a long time in future. We're feeling pretty damn good about where we're going, competition-wise." Remember people, there are two sides to everything. Sure, Teresa could have kept her mouth shut about her feelings toward Jr. in that interview..but she didn't. She could have gave in to Jr's (demand, request, negotiation stance, whatever) and surrendered control of her company..but she didn't. But Jr. could have had a little thicker skin, taken the high road and brushed off those comments..but he didn't. He could have decided that DEI wasn't the worst team out there. That by working from within, gathering support from key personnel to persuade Teresa about necessary changes that needed to be made, he might have been able to elevate that team to where he needed it to be. But he didn't.
 
Does it really matter who's to blame here. Now, the son of Ralph Earnhardt looks down to see his son driving for the enemy..and his wife applying for food stamps. Do you think he's happy? I think not. Do you think he blames just his son or just his wife, solely, for what is happening here. I think not. Take whatever side you want, I'm on Dale's side.

Dammit Dale, you left too soon. By now you know that we had a love/relationship between us. But I never thought you'd go that way. I never thought the NASCAR world would change so much without you. I never thought we'd have to fight so hard to keep your pictures off the internet. And I never thought your loved ones would let it come to this. You left too soon, Dale.
