Tony's buying a 50% interest in Haas racing. Even when Haas was at liberty to run this team. He seemed to be pretty content to let others run it, so maybe there won't be problems. Jr, when he wanted to buy into DEI, wanted 51%, I get that. 50%, on the other hand, is sometimes a recipe for butting heads.
I know none of the financial details, but it would seem to me. That he would be much better off buying all, of DEI, if he could swing it. He'd still be with Chevrolet, in a stronger team, abet one that has seemed to have lost it's focus lately.
No denying that Tony can drive, but at Gibbs, even with Zippy. He's been getting his head handed to him by his teammates. I can't help but wonder if the old home might start looking pretty good about this time next year.
I'm sure Tony is convinced that he can make the Stewart-Haas cars much better next year. I'm also sure he can. My only question is, can he make the operation enough better, that they won't still suck?
If it were me, I think I'd try to buy ALL of DEI. I'm sure Martin, & Paul would be tickled, Bass Pro would stay. Get into the 01, bring it up to speed,(it's about as good now as anything Haas has) then look to add a 4th car the following year.
As I said, I know nothing of what's going on behind the scenes but on the surface this would seem to make pretty good sense.
As an added bonus, he could re-name it Tony Stewart Racing. Then Step-Mother Teresa, & Jr. could fight over the Earnhardt name, & the team would have that monkey off it's back.

 I won't even comment on DEI's situation.

However, I support Tony Stewart 100% with his new race team.

Why would he have wanted to BUY DEI when he was given ownership of Haas for free?!

This Haas deal is going to turn out just fine.  Haas just needs some better people and Tony will be able to do that. And not only that but they will be getting alot of support from HMS.

Yeah, I think Tony is going to be just fine with this.  He has everything he needs to be successful (big time sponsors and will have a solid driver(s).  The only thing left is getting the crew people picked out.
