Look, it's nothing personal. But the man has proven himself utterly incompetent.

There is no change that anyone can point to in the France era that has improved the sport in any way. Seriously, is there one?

Yesterday was about the tenth time that I watched a race during the France era where I thought "this is the worst race I've ever seen." It was also the closest I came to turning a race off and doing something else. But since I cover this sport, I kept watching. So NASCAR's entertainment value is that of a road accident these days. If you keep watching, it's only to see how badly things have gotten screwed up. After Atlanta, there was no excuse for this.

But remember that yesterday followed a rule change blatantly intended to slow one manufacturer...and one driver...down. No matter how justified that may have been (and honestly, I don't know how to justify that), the PR was an unmitigated disaster.

No offense Brian...but let someone competent take over.

Well I DO mean offense!

I've said the man was an idiot for years. If I were Jimmie Johnson, I would feel cheated. Nothing special about THAT win.

Brian France is a ball less wonder.

I agree, Brain France needs to step down. Futhermore, I'm sick of Mike Helton, John Darby, and Robin Penderton. Run 'em all out of town. Just don't let 'em roll on Goodyear's. We want to make sure they make it to I-95 before a blowout.

Now, we've cleaned house, what next? Who's in charge? How do we get the sport back on track?

Let Bill's brother Jim run the show.  The way it should have been in the first place.

Brian is of the generation that had it all handed to him. He never worked hard in his life to ACTUALLY MAKE the millions, not like his father and grandad.

Brian doesn't give a rats ass about the racing, just how can I make it more profitable.

It was also the closest I came to turning a race off and doing something else.

I didn't come close, I DID tune this one out.  I wouldn't even call it racing, it looked like they were in a rain delay and showing replays of this pit crew contest from their all-star exhibition.

Come to think of it, the all-star weekend was the last time I ignored a "race."

Shameful, shameful.

I'm torn. I'm peeved this issue was even allowed to happen, absolutely shameful, they KNEW there was a problem with the tires in practice, prudence SHOULD have had them going to harder tires JUST to be safe...

BUT, I have to say, this was the least boring race at the Brickyard I've seen in a long time. All NASCAR races seem to have that long, boring part in the middle, when most of the drivers are just riding around, biding their time, and the Brickyard is no exception (Martinsville and Bristol are about the only ones, and they can still have it during those races)...I mean, just when you might normally start to yawn, and clean the house or defrag the hard drive, they threw another caution...another chance for a fiasco on pit lane.

Goodyear and NASCAR screwed up, yes...but I wasn't bored. LOL Smiley

Yes.........but..........from inside information.........I know you watched the race via DVR and not LIVE. That does make a difference in my opinion.

I kept waiting for them to turn them loose and race OR throw the red and switch the tires.  I could have drank beer........ok let me rephrase that......I could have done something else while drinking my beer and just watched the last heat and never missed a thing!

LOL I didn't miss much...started at the beginning, and despite the cautions, I watched the entire race, except for commercials and some of the filler crap...if they were racing, I was watching. If they were pitting, I was watching. Had enough time to do so, woke up early....so there! Grin

The common Template cars, Do you remember when nascar would go out to a dealer and get a car to make the templates,do you remember when any one could bring a tire if you could supply the field, do you remember when you could watch a race on TV, not the  race snippets in-between commercials, do you remember when a you could tell a Ford from a Dodge and a Chevrolet does not look like Toyota, do you remember when team or  a company that  did a good job with there motors was not penalized for doing so. Stock car racing is no longer stock car racing, this is not a sport where the best car and team win, what it has become is a feeding place for greed, its time for the people that made this sport what it once was to step up and take control, There is one way to stop the stupidity of an, origination stop feeding it.

All this controversy has me thinking back to the first Grand National race at Talledega, when the Professional Driver's Association called for a boycott because they felt the speeds would be unsafe at the new track.

How did Big Bill handle it?  He climbed into a borrowed racecar and personally turned some hot laps, to shame the drivers who were too chicken to run.  Any chance of Brian France pulling a stunt like that?  Roll Eyes

Then, he lined up independents and drivers from the support series to run the event, so there would be a full field.

And after the race,,, just for good measure... he gave the fans a raincheck voucher to see the next race at 'Dega or Daytona for free, since many of the big name drivers were missing from the one they saw.  Customer service,,, what a concept.  Cool

Now, I'm not saying I agreed with every decision Big Bill or Bill Jr. made, but in their eras, at least they had big brass ones when they had to make a tough call, and if you didn't like it, there wasn't any pointing the finger of blame at anyone else.
