Well this week I don't think many people can argue that we missed the obvious picks out there.  Mike thinks Kasey Kahne can rebound from his current slump and is a top pick for the Brickyard.  While I went with the old standby of Jeff Gordon.  His roll the dice pick was a bit more adventurous than mine.

So who would you guys pick this week?  And do you think Mike can ever catch up?  LOL  Grin

Let us know.

My pick is Tony. And after hearing him in his press conference yesterday he seems really really relaxed. Said this is the most fun he is going to have at Indy. He is even going finishing today with Ryan Newman and maybe Casey Mears. Not to mention Tony and the whole 20 team seems to do best when there is a little controversy around them. And one more thing. Zippy said they have put more work into this Brickyard then their Daytona 500 car.

Well Cami.. I have to give you credit... You kicked the buttocks of all us common folks the last time we tried this.  Glad you decided to set out the little race game I run if you are this good,...  hehehehe

I'm gonna give this ANOTHER shot and see if I can do any better.
Crank Em UP
Kurt Busch
Brian Vickers
Sit Em Down
Burton
Biffle

Chris I totally forgot about your guys' picks until you mentioned it.  I did write down the results   Grin

I'll just list the averages (Crank em Up, Sit Em Down and Roll the Dice)

Chris- 21.5, 33, 32
Blu- 20, 32, 32
GordonGurl- 20.5, 41.5, 1
Busch Babe- 29, 6, 32nd

Carl Edwards (or Tony Stewart depending on how you look at it) was the one pick that really bit you guys in the bootie.

Funny thing is I mentioned to my group over on Yahoo that I was taking over this column and they got a good chuckle out of it (ok, they all about hit the floor laughing) since I'm last over there!  LOL  The only thing I don't like about their version is having to watch how many times you use a guy.  So I worry too much about saving people instead of using them when I should.

I'll admit I am looking forward to football a little bit, I love playing Fantasy Football too.

Yeah....
I was noticing that also... Edwards hurt us bad.

I'm not sure I got this all figured out how you guys do it (although it's really not our game)... was just trying to figure out exactly what you two are doing and what you consider "successful" picks... or what ground rules you have???

Of course Crank em up looks to be the best you think will run...  sit em down will be guys that you think will NOT run well (but if they finish poorly is that a good thing for you)

And the "roll the dice".. I guess thats a 'long shot' pick,... and I saw you mention something about a 'top 15'... so whats the deal there??

Ill say Edwards killed me there last week dangit!! Embarrassed

Maybe I can doa tad better this week too...

Like Chris said,Id like to hear how that rating/pct  thing works too.

Ah well ..here we go again... (NOTE: posted before looking at your article BTW although we are thinking the exact same thing on TonyLOL)

Crank em up
Harvick
Hamlin (he's runnin THAT car here )

Sit em down
Elliot
Petty

Roll the dice
Stewart (should do good if someone doesnt wreck him in retaliation (the list is getting longer and THIS is why he is not on my "Crank em up" list) OR Tony does something stupid ...again

Actually ya know what?? I think the Said heads will have a VERY good weekend IF Boris makes the race. I almost put him in there for my Roll the Dice pick..can we have 2??LOL

Notice my colors?? Can we adopt those as the "Official" colors?? It kinda makes some sense..Green (Go!) for the Crank em up, Red (STOP, or ...they may as well just go home) for the Sit em Down, and Orange (Yellow doesnt show up well but... CAUTION!! MAY do well!)  for Roll the Dice. If that works for everyone that is...I just think its kinda neat though, and makes a little sense. Cool

Good idea on the colors Blu.

And you guys are right (and maybe we should have explained it more in the first column) the Crank Em Up are ones that we think you should use, Sit Em Down don't use, Roll the Dice well maybe use them but don't blame us if it backfires!  LOL

As far as the scoring goes, I used averages for the overall because it would make the column too long to list all the previous weeks.  So the way I'm thinking (remember its early though) I'd want a smaller # for my Crank EU avg & RTD , larger for Sit ED.

Maybe we should have awarded some time of point system to it.  That is a good idea.  I'll talk it over with Mike and the Big Wigs here and see if it's not too late to change it.  Thanks for mentioning it!

OH don't go to no trouble for US Cami...
It's you alls ball game,.. and mostly just for the FS Column and between you and Mike,.. As for me,.. I just have fun guessing and see if I can come up with anything close...

OH,...
I do kinda get the impression the "Sit em down" is kinda someone you might "normally" pick,.. but shouldn't this week,... not a guy that never runs good..Huh?
Or am I off base there?

That is the theory with the Sit 'em Down Chris. Anybody could pick Derrick Cope or Kenny Wallace every week. The idea is to look at those drivers that people could lean towards picking but shouldn't.

Burton is definitely bold. There are a lot of people picking him to win this weekend. Not to mention they've got something like 14 top 15s in a row. There will be a lot of disappointed people if he does bust out this weekend.

uuuhhhh I stuck my neck out.... I'll stick with it.
Don't know HOW many times this season I have picked the pole winner in my little Fantasy race pool I run,.. and then he crashes out, or runs poorly.... so I'll stand pat.

Remains to be scene what I do in my fantasy race league... LOL
