As thought, Truex staying at DEI and Yeley shuffled out at HOF.  Brad Colman to take the place.  Riggs talking to a few teams without a surprise considering State Water Heaters wants to go with Riggs.  When a driver brings sponsorship owners will come.

yeah... R Gordon would like to have Riggs to expand his deal to a 2 car team...  Nice when you can get a driver / sponor combo.

Also Martin may be in the #5 before the END of of 2008.  A move we saw in several case the last couple years.
Of course for that to happen Mears would have to be shuffled out, and thats ALSO possible IF he goes to Petty Enterprises,.. and with K Petty driving less and less that could be possible also.

Wonder who else we'll see swap before the end of 2008.   Newman to the Stewart / Haas team.  Stremme in to take Newmans seat in the #12
MAN I'm gonna have to get out my crystal ball before I place my drivers in their groupings in the fantasy game I run for the final segment of the year.  Want to make sure I get the right drivers in the right places...

Yeah Chris, Newman is going to go over to SHR by the chase and expect Stremme to take over to 2 to get acclimated to new team/CC.  Saw the Martin thing in  for the last 4 races at least which means Casey is a goner.  I still think it's the 33 but the 45 could be interesting.

My gut tells me Coleman is going to make it iin that 96 car.  He is talented.  I feel he could be a top 25 driver but there are more and more great drivers filling seats in Cup.

really... Coleman... a great driver... hhuummm
going to the #96.. AND being successful..... I can't see it

couple reasons.  First there are BETTER drivers in the NNS than Coleman (not that this means he can't have success in the 96)
BUt there are better driver.  Keselowski for one, Ambrose for another.
Couple other guys coming up thats GONNA have succes is Landon Cassill.  only 13 starts and already a pole and 4 top 10's.  Also keep an eye out for Josh Wise, Chase Miller, and James Buescher

The reason Coleman CAN'T have success in the #96... is that the #96 team SUCKS.  The TEAM has to get going in the right direction FIRST before ANY driver they put in that car can have success.
LAST season they had a good little driver in Tony Raines, and Raines kept the car in the top 35 in points all season.  Still with a GOOD driver and lots of experience, the car wasn't a top 20 car.   NOW they taken two steps backwards and pull out Raines, and put in Yeley.  It's obvious they have struggled because Yeley hasn't had the car in the top 35 in points in quite some time, and has missed a couple events if I'm not mistake.
Now they want to take out a guy who AT LEAST has a lot of seat time in a CUP car and put in a RAW rookie.  I can't see where this is going to make that team "better".
That team needs EXPERIENCE behind the wheel.  SOmeone who can tell them what the car needs, what adjustments to make, etc etc... not someone who is gonna be as lost as the rest of the team.
IMO I think Coleman moving up to the #96 team could be like Casey Atwood.  He'll move up to the CUP level.. has an incredibly poor showing, and may be all you ever hear from him.
Hope not.

Well, never said he is great by any means, just talented Wink.  As for Cassill and Kesolowski, they are great but destined for HMS so no chance for them in the 96.  Ambrose is a great talent but an older driver and has less sponsor appeal than Coleman.  He is also going to drive the 47 car for JTG next year so he is taken.  Josh Wise will fill the 55 seat in Cup when Mikey decides to step off (which he should).  Miller is going to be in a Dodge.  Buescher still has the jury out on him but he seems to be decent.
SO at this time Coleman is best fitted in that car.  I did like Tony but he is not a sponsors dream and the sponsor ultimately decides the driver.  Again, Brad is talented enough to be a top 25 driver in Cup.

OH I know what you are saying.... and I get the point about other guys suppodesly having rides set up elsewhere...
Coleman MAY be a good little driver... but IMO he's not going to help a team that NEEDS a experienced driver to help that TEAM
Coleman needs to go to a multi-car team... a team that has drivers with experience so they can bring him along (and he will need some training un the new CoT) ... and also a team that has it's act together
I know the #96 teams gets parts and technology fropm Hendricks (?) but obviously they "operate" like a one car team... otherwise they would perform better with the info and technology they get.
Long as that part doesn't change... I can't see where it natter WHO drives the car.  Raines may 'not' of had a high 'marketability'... but the car was in the race every race, and always easily inside the top 35.
Put in a guy who is 'marketable'... but then he misses the field, and/or has to qualify to make the field every week.....
Well... which one would you rather spend your money on if you were a sponsor.  I think it's an easy choice to want to see the car on the track each and EVERY week.

Personally I think the other problem with the team is that they may lose their sponsor if they don't start getting fired up.  DLP signed up for another year, but unless something really great happens, I don't see them signing up again beyond next year.  Also, I have to agree with you, Chris.  Maybe Yeley isn't the best driver out there, but he seems to do decent moving up through the field and as soon as they make a pit stop, he ends up way back in the field again.  Just my opinion.

Here goes my two cents.

#00 Removed from MWR

#4 Ryan Newman

#07 Casey Mears and #33 Clint Boyer (better for boyer more $$ in marketing due to no alchol sponsor)

#12 Stremme unknown sponsor probably Burger King

#20 Joey Logano Home Depot

#41 Reed Sorenson (Resigned one year deal)

#45 split Schedule Kyle Petty / Chad Mcumbee

#96 Brad Coleman with Dlp for rest of 08 Scott Riggs in 09

I think that Coleman will be in the 96 next year.  He's a development driver for JGR, HOF racing is a sister team for JGR.  I'm thinking if Coleman can hold his own the rest of this year, and next year, then he'll be in the 4th JGR car in 2010.

I think that because of the difference between the N'wide and the Cup cars that JGR would rather get Coleman the seat time in the Cup series.

I'm just not sure that JGR's Coleman experiment will be all that successful, but I suppose, time will tell.

Jersey Girl, I agree with you on everything except that I'm more optimistic regarding your last line. I hear rumblings that HOF Racing will be stepping up their game in order to provide Coleman a competitive ride. I can imagine the frustration he's been living with at Baker Curb having to drive their inferior equipment every week. I hope HOF delivers. But you are right, only time will tell.

it's funny to see how silly season affect nascar / spnsors marketing. I noticed since Indy any time the Toyota remote control cars ad runs Tony is totally cut out even though he has the funniest aprt. Quaker State has now re-edited thier ad so no one talks to Casey. Any one else notice other ads with cut outs?Huh?
