with Ryan to S-H, and Mears to RCR looking like a done deal, that pretty much only leaves the 12 open...

so who's gonna drive the 12...Stremme, Riggs, someone else ?? ?? ??

I think Stremme is a done deal here...
Penske sponsoring Stremme for several NNS races with "Penske" sponsorhsip to me is kind the handwriting on the wall there.

Riggs... He's got his own sponsorship... IMO he'll end up partnered with R Gordon

OH.. I wouldn't consider the "Coleman in the #96" a deal set in stone for 2009 yet either.
He just BARELY made the field this week.  Good thing only 44 cars showed up, or IMO he'd of been sent home.
I've also read in several places, and heard race broadcasters comment. "Coleman is the exact WRONG driver for this #96 car... a LOT of better options than Coleman"

I've said all along,.. I didn't see why they took Raines out of the seat to start with.... there's one better option.
I'm betting Raines runs rings around Coleman in the Michigan CUP race today, and Raines supposedly has inferior equipmet to Coleman

We still haven't heard what Petty Enterprises are going to do for 2009 either.

Since I'm not the only one who seems to not have absolute faith in the Coleman / HOF deal, it was announced today that HOF will place Ken Schrader in the #96 DLP entry at Bristol.

Not a surprise.  They are evaluating just like the 00 with Skinner.  They are going to put Brad in the car to succeed and Bristol for a rookie isn't a track tailor-made for succeeding Cheesy

I agree.. but when they made the announce to put Coleman in the #96,... they made out like it was a "done deal" and he would be in the car for all the races the rest of the year....
IMO I think it appears Coleman is just "testing" for a spot... but I doubt he ends up with the ride in '09

Here goes my two cents.

#00 Removed from MWR

#4 Ryan Newman

#07 Casey Mears and #33 Clint Boyer (better for boyer more $$ in marketing due to no alchol sponsor)

#12 Stremme unknown sponsor probably Burger King

#20 Joey Logano Home Depot

#41 Reed Sorenson (Resigned one year deal)

#45 split Schedule Kyle Petty / Chad Mcumbee

#96 Brad Coleman with Dlp for rest of 08 Scott Riggs in 09

Well so far we have the #44 becoming the #00 at MWR

We got Ryan to Stweart Hass in the #39 not 4

They #07 and #33 went through.

Announcment on Monday for Logano into the #20

#41  Sorrenson Rumored to GEM with Sabates stating that basically they don't expect any improvment from Sorrenson.

#42 no primary sponsor with Texaco pulling out. Chip pulling out the rest of his hair and suddenly being more prominent at his Indy car races.

It's been a biggger than normal silly season. And just as fun speculating.

Yeah.. and I heard lasy night the Crew chief, and pit crew is NONE to happy abut STAYING with the #07.
Seems it was announced just before the race that was what was gonna happen.
They want NO PART of being the crew for Mears,... Crew Chief said he has been with Bowyer ever since he came up and wants to go with Bowyer to the #33.  The crew feels the same way.  The crew chief said it looks like there will be a lot of "fall out" from the situation if it stays as announced.

SO General Mills wants a driver who is capabile of contending for the Chase... so RCR gives them Bowyer like they want,... but DON'T give them the crew to go along with it.  Seems to me no one will be happy on EITHER team.

Chris

Now that I didn't hear that the team was staying on the 07 and Boyer would get a whole new crew. Wow If I was Boyer and his team I'd be upset too!

I agree... I'd be upset also...
But according to what the announcers said, that was what was supposed to happen.
I guess we'll see.
Maybe Childress will change his mind when he hears a lot of flack about it starting today at the shops.

Sorrenson to GEM today offical.

Gillett Evernham Motorsports announced today that Reed Sorenson has signed a multi-year contract to join the team for the 2009 Sprint Cup season and beyond. "I'm pretty pumped up about this," said Sorenson who started racing at age six before winning 250 quarter midget races and 84 Legends races. I can't wait to get in their cars, I really believe in what they are doing with their program with all their wins and poles this year. Ray Evernham and the Gilletts are going to give us the equipment we need to go out and be a contender each weekend and eventually race for a championship."
"We will announce Reed's sponsorships and car number in the near future," said Tom Reddin, CEO of GEM. "He is a highly marketable young driver who knows how to win races, and has a long career full of promise ahead of him."(GEM PR)(8-26-2008)

I was really hoping that he'd have on more year with the same crew chief and team. Gannasi has really bent over all of his drivers because he can't find the right chemistry.

Both Ganassi and HMS did this to Casey Mears and now Ganassi has done to Srrenson and JPM. Look for Ganassi to fold after the 09 season when he can't resign JPM.

Heck, I bet Chip is making plans to scram as we speak.  JPM can go and be a 4th car for GEM.

Target just extended for one more year and Chip states he'll run two teams next year. If he's a smart man ......(and I'll leave that alone) he'll forget about putting a open wheeler inside and sign Jeramy Mayfield or Scott Wimmer. He needs result if he's going to keep his operation afloat.

I guess Chip and Felix need some wheel chocks to throw under the bus.
