So will he pull Bill Elliott out of his car so he can be in the race?  Or will he pay off somebody else?

IN our little fantasy racing thread here I originally picked Waltrip to miss this week,.. (not sure why I changed my mind).  He JUST don't have the horsepower to get the job done. And he's been struggling with the handle all season long.
SO It didn't surprise me one bit.

I also picked him to miss at Lowes for the 600.  He can NOW forget about making it into the top 35 this season.  Maybe he needs to worry LESS about running his mouth,.. and MORE about figuring out how to make his CAR run better
Brother DW always run his mouth also,.. but at least HE always backed it up...

Can't really help it if his team is not getting factory backing from Dodge, they are just trying to hobble around until the season ends, hoping something good happens.

well,... I've always siad you're only as good as your equipment NOW A DAYS ANYWAY
Waltrips plan was dumb from the start.  Just jump out there and start up his own team.  We all knew it was just something to carry him over until NEXT year until the Toyota deal kicked in.
I posted at the beginning of the year he would be split between THIS team,.. and his new Toyota team,... keying more on his Toyota team... and it would cause problems for his 2006 team.

Mikes problem is he COMPLETELY overlooked THIS season, and he THOUGHT he was a better driver then what he is. (there's that Waltrip ego again,.. bigger than all outdoors)
I know he was thinking,.. I can do better than the other teams and stay in the top 35,.. that'll be easy.... Heck he can't even make the field sometimes.
Miss the field; you can't stay in the top 35.

Napa has always stood besides Waltrip because he gets them good advertisement,... But it's ALL about what he does on the track.  OBVIOUSLY a sponsor like NAPA, and UPS, spends the big bucks because they expect to see their car UP FRONT,.. not just an "also ran" in the back.  No TV coverage back there.
How long will they put up with this before going elsewhere.
I EXPECT Waltrip to do better than he did this year,.. (How could he do worse)... mainly Because I expect the Toyota teams to share knowledge like the Dodge teams did when they came into CUP racing.  (not because he'll have a 3 car team with such good drivers, and he'll have such a strong group)

Like I said,... I DO expect him to do better,.. but I STILL won't be surprised if he misses a couple fields again next year (providing the rules remain the same)

: on Speed Channel's SPEED Report, Bob Dillner reported that Scott Wimmer could be announced this week as the driver of Michael Waltrip Racing's #00 Burger King/Domino's Pizza Toyota in 2007

Waltrip had SSSSOooooooooooo many possibilities to get good drivers when he started putting his team together.... Looks like he is starting to scrape the bottom of the barrel now.

Just hearing Scott Wimmer's name still makes me laugh as I imagine him hiding under his bed, awaiting the police coming to arrest him after rolling his car while driving drunk.  Oh man, Michael might be a nice guy, but what the heck is he thinking.  There are several guys in the trucks that would be way better than this jelly bean.
