Well, I don't think you have to be worried about qualifying this week...we haven't had rain in north Texas in a LONG time.

Now you've gone and done it!   Better update your flood insurance!

Someone in the Mirror Driving comments had an idea that I hadn't thought of, but like much, MUCH better than by making the lineup by luck of the draw.  I really believe that the starting lineup should be based on some kind of performance standard.  While it is sometimes better to be lucky than good, there is lucky and then there is LUCKY. 

The suggestion was to award positions by practice speeds.  I like it better than the draw for sure.  At least there is some type of performance attached. (and the current system DOES reward performance). Use speeds from the first practice run on race weekend, whether that's Friday or Saturday.  Make each car's fastest lap count. That way teams have to weigh setups, but nobody is getting a starting position based on pure luck.  A pole needs to be earned in some way, not picked out of a hat, IMO.
