Chase TV Ratings
Track 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008
New Hampshire 2.8 3.4 3.1 3.3 3.8
Dover 3.1 3.1 3.1 3.5 3.3
Kansas 5.4 4.5 4.0 3.1 3.5
Talladega 4.2 5.3 4.8 4.6 4.6
Charlotte 4.9 5.1 4.7 4.2 3.8
Martinsville 4.4 4.7 4.1 3.7 3.3
Atlanta 4.6 4.7 4.8 4.0 3.6
Texas 5.1 5.1 4.3 3.7 3.7
Phoenix 4.9 5.0 4.7 3.8 3.6
Homestead 6.2 5.9 4.7 4.2 3.6
Average 4.6 4.7 4.2 3.8 3.7
Apparently I'm not the only one who isn't all that in love with the Chase format. I love NASCAR racing but I wish they'd ditch this playoff system. Take a look at the huge drop at Homestead. Wow!

Hmm, if you go by ratings, it looks like what the public wants is more restrictor plate racing.

I guess when I've been watching as long as some of you have, I may not like alot of things but for now I'm happy. In fact I'm depressed that the season is over. I'm already counting down til Feb!

I don't really know were I stand on the Chase Format ! I like the Playoff Process , but it is not the form of Playoff that I'am accustom to , their is no real elimination of Teams. Well as far as competing , their still out there , just not eligible for the Cup. I guess I'am still undecided on the change ! Any Racing is better than No Racing , sorry for the complacency , just my opinion for what it's worth lol !!!

NOw there's a thought...
Start with 12 teams... the WORST finishing team at race 31 is eliminated from the chase...
The next race the worst finishing team is eliminated again.
Keep doing that until you get down to Homestead and you have three teams left and then the BEST finishing team that race wins the championship... AT least it's a "playoff" format.... someone is eliminated each week,.. and as many cars seem to finish each week,.. you could never know WHO would be eliminated until the closing laps..??
Heck.. that could be BETTER than the chase we have now..

Well you could start that at Daytona and go through Homestead, almost.

Sorry Chris had to do it. Went to Jayski and your 2008 Champion would be Carl Edwards
NH Matt Kenseth Accident
Dover Kyle Busch Engine
Kansas Tony Stewart Accident
Talledega Denny Hamlin Accident (goodyear)
Charolette Dale Earnhardt Jr Accident (goodyear)
Martinsville Jeff Burton 17th place finish
Atlanta Clint Bowyer 20th place finish
Texas Jimmy Johnson 15th place finish
Phoenix Gregg Biffle 11th place finish
Leaveing Jeff Gordon, Kevin Harvick and Carl Edwards to battle for the championship and Carl Edwards winning in front of 2nd place finisher Kevin Harvick.

HEY... THANKS for doing that
IMO wouldn't THAT make for an interesting last race... three teams go into the last race ALL of them with a chance to win... all of then EVEN when the green flag falls.
In this case,.. the championship contenders finish 1st and 2nd.
Seems to me to be better than a guy going into the last race 100+ points ahead??

The only problem I would have in it, is Talledega. Denny gets taken out by Goodyear but bonehead Carl Edwards gets to move on?
? Granted nothing in life is fair, but damm if that move doesn't cost you the championship then what does?

I think if the chase went like this you would have to take Dega and all the variables out of play. Put something like Richmond in there.
