Direct TV to drop NASCAR Hotpass

Reported on jayski this morning and I called Direct TV and they told me at this time no subscriptions are being sold for an 09 Hotpass.
I know several of us here have it and used it in different manners. Wether listening to radio chatter or to mute DW or Rusty Wallace. I spilt mine with a friend and have used it. We were debating wether to do it again. I guess that debate is on the back burner.

Gee... look what I started... Just before this thread was started I called and canceled
my
HotPass for 2009.
Sorry to all that will miss out on HotPass because of me...
Actually I
DID
enjoy HotPass when it first started. It was unique and different and I enjoyed being able to follow along with the chatter.
More than anything
I liked being able to follow along with the race when it went to commercial.
Now I'll be the first to admit if I'd of had to pay
full price
for HotPass I'd of never of gotten it. I finangled around and got it for $60 for the year,.. so for that price to me it was worth it. I think the regular price was about $140 / year, and for that price they could keep it. No way I'd pay that for what extra I had figured I'd use it...
In the long and short of it, as the season played out, I found myself ending up watching the "network" coverage mostly (but on the HotPass channel). So in effect I wasn't getting anything I couldn't have gotten
for free
. The only "perk" I got was when they went to commercial and I still switched to one of the featured drivers and kept up with the racing until the commercial was over. I hardly EVER followed a particular driver, and they covered Dale Jr about
EVERY SINGLE
week. I got so sick of that,.. who wants to see the
SAME
driver week after week as one of the four featured drivers.
Finally when the NFL football season started (with 10 or so weeks left in the NASCAR season) I completely stopped using the HotPass. I flipped back and forth from the network NASCAR race, and the NFL football game. So HotPass did me no good then.
I saw then that having it for the upcoming season would be of no use. Even if I could get it for $60 / season again I'd only watch it for about 25 races and mostly use the same "free" feed anyway.... SO why spend the money.
I'll just go back to my old standby... Watch the race on TV, and listen to it on the radio if I don't want to hear one of the announcers... LOL
