Ok.  I am just trying to figure out the way Tony comes out of the gate.  I am thinking he is going to struggle a bit with everything that will be going on with him but I am thinking the 500 is less about team and more about driver and spotter.  If Tony has the same spotter I say he has a normal 500 for him.  If he has a new one not sure what to think.

Mark Robinson who he had for almost his whole cup career did not go with him. And Mike Calinoff who spotted for Tony since the Richmond race is going back to be Matt Kenseth's spotter. So Tony's new spotter for this season will be Bob Jeffrey who spotted for Matt Kenseth this past season.

thanks Tony14.  I knew his old, longtime spotter now spots for Joey but wasn't sure who the new one was.  This answers my question than as to how the 500 may go for the 14 team.

I don't see a new spotter being much of a problem for Tony in the 500. They'll have alot of practice sessions plus the Dual race to get things figured out.

yes and no.  500 has a lot more at stake than the duals.  With him not in the shootout there is not much time for communication practice in race situations.

Unless I'm mistaken I think most teams use two spotters at Daytona and Dega now... One on the Tower on the front tri-oval,.. and one over on the super straight.. seems thats what I've heard them say on TV and radio over the last few years anyway.
I know when I was a spotter we still used one,.. but seems teams have went to two spotters more and more over the last 5 years or so..??

You know Chris I think you are right but that makes my case even more strong.  I am trying to decipher when to use Tony in one of my pools I get into.  It is split into 2 18 race segements and you can only use a driver once per segement.  You also need to pick before the segement starts which makes it more difficut.

yeah I know a guy that runs a pool like that...
not sure if I'm gonna get in it this year or not...
I finished second in it last year when I played...
I forget where I played Tony (not that it does you any good)... lol
He picked up somewhere Mid-season... I think it was at the Spring Dega race...
Oh oh.. I remember... He had both road courses in the same segment,.. and I used J Gordon at Infineon, and Tony at WG...
I figured ANYBODY might draft their way to the front at tracks like Daytona  Dega.... well I guess they Kida did.. look at the top two at Daytona... LOL
Put Tony someplace where he might be more of a "sure" top 5..??

Who know... depends on what it cost, how it pays out, etc.  Let me know about the one you are playing.  Always nice to play insomething on the side besides the one I run.  I'm hoping to have 25-30 play in mine this year.  we paid out over $4000 in prize money last season to just 18 players.  SO if we had 25 players the purse would be probably more like $5,600

Chris, the pool is small in terms of cash, ($30/person) and there are anywhere from 30 -35 people in it.  Last year I used Tony at Lowe's in the st segment (yeah, the race he was winning and got a flat with 2 to go Angry) and The Fall Dega race (oh yeah, he was a 10th place car at best but Cousin took out most of the contenders Cheesy).  This year I am just trying to get a feel for what to do in the first segment.  I have the base plays already I am just trying to see if I should tweak or not a couple (this is when I tend to over-analyze and screw myself Wink ).  I take into account several didn't factors and obviously a new team throws up a red flag for me.  I will not use Newman, at least until I see the direction he goes in.  I am a Joey fan but will not use him yet either.  I know the tracks I believe he will be good at but I think it will be the 2nd half when folks will see Joey start knocking on Victory Lane's door.  There will be some guys I leave out that are good drivers.  I like it because it makes you think.  All you are looking for is top 5, top 10 every week and you are in great shape.  I won the first segment last year and came in 7th in the 2nd.  I was top 5 going into atlanta and had Junior there and Johnson at Texas and they had a couple mediocre races which put me to bed  Cool

$30 / person and 30 people.. thats $900 in the prize fund...
How do they pay back.. how many spots, etc..
I'd be interested in getting in.

In my game we pay back on a 1:3 ratio... so if 30 people played we'd pay back 10 spots... last spot would get their entry back (in this case $30)
Not many pay back that well... or that far back.  I like to pay back so more folks get back winnings, and we kinda 'spread it around'.  Not interested in making one or two folks 'rich'... if you know what I mean.  LOL
Let me know what the pay scale is I might be game to get in.  PM me if you want with every thing and who to contact.

At this time Chris his pool is full and he is not looking for anyone new.  If that changes I will most certainly get you in.  I am going to get into yours, you can bank on that.
As for the payout, he pays the top 6 and last place (which I honestly don't like.  If you pick a last place team you most certainly don't deserve your money back.  His opinion is people who come in back may not come back and I said for $30.00 I can't imagine someone wouldn't come back).  Like I said, if something becomes available you will be contacted. Wink
