2009 Predictions

Since we're already to mid January, let's start talking about what predictions we want to make this year.  Anyone have anything they'd like to see us predict?  I figured we'd probably pick a champ and ROTY for each series as well as who will make the Chase this year.  If you have anything to add, throw it in here, and we'll get it all together in a list so we can start making our guesses for the 09 season.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Smoken...good one!  Barring a major disaster in multiple races, this won't happen for quite a few years to come if JJ and Knaus keep up what they're doing.  I may not like the guys, but they've figured something out and just have it dialed in right now.

Yeah... and limited (or no) testing means it's that much harder for other teams to catch up with them...
Wouldn't surprise me at all to see JJ win a 4th CUP title in a row,.. or 5th even
They have shown they are the team to beat every year... if bad luck just don't beat them... because they sure don't beat themselves

Smoke makes the chase and so does David Ragan.

Clint Boyer has an absolute meltdown by the All-star race and demands his old team back.

Joey Logano will FAIL to get the #20 in at least one race before the All Star Break.

California will only have 42 cars on the grid.

Matt Kenseth holds up the the Harley J Earl trophy.

Jeff Gordon and Kevin Harvick wreck each other trying to break thier winless streak.

I may be wrong,.. but I think the intent is to throw out of 'prediction Questions' so that everyone can guess on them....  not so much be throwing out personal predictions.
For example IMO I think they are looking for things like us to suggest we all predict.
a) Whow will win the most poles in 2009
b) how will Stewart/Haas racing do - Will Stewart or Newman get a win in 2009 - How many..??
c) will any drivers get their first career wins - who?
d) Who will win Daytona 500
e) who will win All Star Race
f) How many NNS 'regulars' will be able to win a race in their own NNS series - Who will they be
g) How will the PRM merger work - Any wins, who - which driver does the best
h) How will the new EGR merger work - Any wins, who - which driver does best.
Might throw in a question in some form about drivers that swapped team / Mears, Martin, Sorenson, Allmendinger, Ambrose, Menard, Speed, Stremme
Could even ask IF (or how many) CUP races won't have a full field...

Thats what I know off the top of my head...
Can anyone think of anything else.  IMO I think thats kinda what she was originally asking - but I could be wrong.
IMO I'd think we need to get some suggestions in ASAP so folks can have a little time to think about it, and then reply.  Of course we need to have all out answers in before the start of the season, and thats less than 3 weeks away.

Also at the end of the year I did a summary, and we all checked out how we did against each other.  It was fun looking at how we did.
SO it seems to work best it KBF comes up with a certain set of questions and we all follow that format... If thats the direction she wants to follow this year.

IMO I see some possibilities here...
Now I'm not the be-all... end-all decision maker... but let me throw out a few thought on these questions...

How many cars show up at California?
an OK question.. could be interesting... ?
Who wins first, Kevin Harvick or Jeff Gordon?
hhuumm not sure of the significance.. I suppose since neither Harvick or Gordon won last season... so yeah we could throw that in... Could also add in a few other non-winners to that list like Matt Kenseth, Martin Truex, Mark Martin..??

I can see "Will he win a race"  (easy one).. I don't think "retiring" will come until after the season... so IMHO we'd hope to "guess" things that would happen between the first and last race..??
Will Penske racing improve or stay the same?
We could add them to the list I posted with RPM and EGR..

uumm.. hhuumm  kinda covered when you list who would make the chase.. but kinda different

I assume you think at seasons end in the points..??  I think this would be an easy one... guess some have to be easy

Might throw JJ in this... I'm sure some would say neither and opt for JJ

YEAH... This IS a good question...  especially if Dinger gets to run the full season

Again.. won't know until end of season.. probably not a good question.. could be unanswerable..??

hhum   not sure... Almirola might have NO ride... Dingers could be full time.... Smiths could also be full time (as long as fields are short).. lot of unknowns

this is an interesting thought... We probaly KNOW it'll come after Daytona.  SOMEONE will get caught with an "illegal Something"

could do.. a simple yes or no..??  I think it's easy.  I can't see him and JR parting ways unless MADE to.... and NO ONE knows how to "Handle" Jr like Eyry does.... but maybe folks have different ideas?

I think this is a wide assortment of questions for KBF to choose from...
Still time to throw in more ideas I suppose... but I'm thinking we've about covered everything..??
She can pick and choose which ones she wants to add... some are kinda interesting... some not so much so.
either way.. it'll be fun for us all to pick,.. and then look back like last season.  It was a hoot.
