I can't believe he signed with DEI/TEI/EGR this year. I can't believe he'd do it again for next year.
I can't believe any real racer would take $$$'s over the chance to win.

we all know Truex stayed because of all the loot he got. It was about the money this year. As for biggest fish in the FA market this year I would say he is the 2nd at this point. Kurt is the biggest fish as we speak. As for where Truex goes I say SHR is a no doubter.

Off topic...but, what about Kasey Kahne? When should he bail on RPM? I had completely forgotten about Kasey until I heard his name mentioned on ESPN last night. Talk about a driver with talent stuck behind the wheel of an awful race car. Do I see a new thread forming?

I believe Kurt signed a 3 year deal with PRS and 2010 is his FA deal.

Well since he started the whole, let me go a year early thing, that means he's only under contract through this year and then things get....flexible

Kasey Kahne's car can't be that bad - he's in the Top 12 at the moment. He's quietly had a solid year. RPM's cars aren't running too bad right now, they're mostly suffering from AJ's bad pit crew (and the occasional still-pretty-new driver mistake, like at PHX) and Sadler's lack of skill. One difference between Penske and RPM is that RPM isn't running the new Dodge engine yet. It would be interesting to see how RPM would do with the new (and apparently better) engine. But it's irrelevant, KK just signed up through 2010.
I THOUGHT Kurt Busch was signed up, but now that I look at all the resources, I don't see any confirmation of this. But given his current success Penske seems to be keeping him happy enough to stay - a new (old) crew chief and new engine package will do that for you. And again, whether Dodge is around next year is a wild card that will factor into this...
As for SHR expanding to three teams - they don't have full sponsorship for the 39 yet; unless they lock that up for next year first I can't see them expanding to three cars (unless a driver takes a full year of sponsorship to the team with him). But I agree Truex would be a good fit.
JGR has been trying for years to expand to four cars, I don't see that happening unless, again, the driver brings a sponsor with him for the year. They wanted to get sponsorship for Marc Davis for a fourth car and couldn't get it (even for Nationwide), and if I recall correctly there was a rumor they couldn't for Bobby Labonte last year, either. If they DID find sponsorship - do you think Kurt and Kyle could get along on the same team? Or Kurt and Denny? Truex obviously would be a decent fit here too. So would another driver nobody's brought up yet, whose contract ends after 2009 -
Brian Vickers
, if he leaves Red Bull (and given the team has taken a step back this year due to the AJ-Speed swap, I could see him not being particularly happy there at the moment).
Reutimann, Ragan, Montoya, McMurray are all free agents after this year, that could be available. Either Ragan or McMurray will stay at Rousch; people naturally assume that the odd man out will wind up at the satellite Yates operation, but there's no guarantee of that. Since they're calling Reutimann "The Franchise" I figure they'll probably make sure he's back next year, and Montoya has a long-standing relationship with Chip Ganassi. Still, any of these guys could possibly be at a new team next year.

Less than 1% chance Kurt and Kyle ride together. Now McMurray is the odd man out at Roush, that much I will bank on. he could be a nice solid 4th driver at JGR but can he bring sponsorship with him?
