I wondered why NASCAR now didn't announce JJ as a driver. So...are we seeing a power struggle? Goes back to my question of whether or not Shana can be named owner. I'm still thinking it's going to be JJ it's just a matter of crossing all the T's and dotting the I's

With all the hub bub between Jeremy Mayfield, Dale Jr and Carl long the past three weeks a little story is brewing and Martin Turex Jr is the one stirring the pot.
Truex is rumored to be signing a new contract with MWR racing and all indications are that he'll pilot the Napa Toyota. He stated that everything should be wrapped up in a couple of weeks.
Alot of people here included me had him going to SHR if SHR was thinking of expanding to three teams. Truex has some expirence with Michael from DEI and some key people from DEI are at MWR now. Toyota is now one of the strongest manufactures in the sport in terms of financial stability and it's obvious that MWR has made huge strides in thier performance.
Now this will free up Bass Pro Shops from DEI and the Army sponsorship contract only goes year to year. Is this an opening for Bass Pro to go on the #39 next year.
EGR will now for 2010 be left with one driver under contract and who knows what sponsorship. I'm not sure how long the Target sponsorship was good for. Are the death bells tolling over at EGR?

Good move by Mikey to get the hell out and let someone else drive this car. I though Truex to SHR but doesn't look like it and i will say I was wrong.

(Stepping forward, head down, hand raised) +1 on the Truex/BPS to SHR train of thought.
Truex to the 55 with a multi-year commitment from NAPA makes sense, too, when you look at it.
In a way, that makes for an even more interesting silly season, if BPS wants to stay in the sport and their money is up for grabs. They could renew with EGR, go to an operation with room to expand (SHR or Gibbs), or land with an existing team seeking sponsorship currently or with contracts expiring. Driver-wise, they'll need someone with enough of an outdoorsy, good ole boy image to repesent them... sorry Scott Speed, no painted toenails.

I also thought Truex to SHR w/ BPS was a no brainer.
Wouldn't surprise me to see BPS heading to SHR, since they have a relationship w/ Tony, and Ryan Newman is apparently an avid fisherman.
Truex to MWR makes sense. His younger brother drives for MWR in one of the lower series...maybe the CWEast?

how's this for a scenario... Brad Keslowski to SHR driving the #25 Army Chevrolet and Ryan Newman driving the #39 BPS Chevy in 2010?

Or............
JR Motorsports moves up to Cup with Brad Keslowski driving a Bass Pro Shops sponsored car? BPS still gets to be associated with a VIABLE Earnhardt and not the sinking EGR!

Well it's an idea. IMO I don't think that will happen with Truex off the market. If JR motorsports was to move up I think they would do a two car deal like SHR. I surmized earlier that JR should take the #88 and sign Truex and move up, freeing the #25 for Brad with HMS.

FYI, Truex's younger brother Ryan drives for MWR in the CWEast series. The 00 NAPA car... I can already imagine the NAPA commercials next year with Mikie and the Truex brothers
From Jayski:
Truex's brother wins at Watkins Glen: NASCAR Camping World Series East rookie Ryan Truex passed race leader Patrick Long between Turns 10 and 11 on the last lap and took the checkered flag in the Tioga Downs Casino 125 Saturday at Watkins Glen International. Truex, in the #00 NAPA Toyota, who was making just his fifth career start in the series for Michael Waltrip Racing, ran in the top three throughout the day.(WGI)(6-7-2009)

I didn't think much of it because Tom Tom had made a multiple race offer to EGR for Aric Amirola but seeing Truex in that bright green car was just ...horrifying. If the lime green was bad baby blue for the next two races are going to be hideous.
I guess the reports (ahem EGR press releases) that BPS was onboard all season was a bold face lie as Truex will have GE Reveal ligthing (with target bullseyes) on the car for the next two weeks. So BPS did have performance and operational clauses. Perception is not only reality, reality is reality. Jayski has pics.
I can't wait until Truex announces his deal. I can't believe that MWR would ever be an improvement over a team with Earnhardt on the door. But reality is reality.

LOL You can thank Momma Teresa for that. Like it was always said, she could have had 49% of something or 100% of nothing. She chose the 100%
