It's funny now because of all the up-roar..not that I like what he did. But a side note Sam Bass said on sirius that if Kyle Busch approached him and said listen I want to destroy the guitar and give it to my crew so eveyone gets a piece, Sam said he would have made a prop guitar (like rock and rollers use) that would splinter beautifully and then he could get the Les Paul after the race. I wonder how many drivers are now going to talk to Sam about having a rigged guitar?

" Race car drivers aren't supposed to be class acts."

Fathead, where did that comment come from? Sure they are supposed to be class acts. Do you think that a company that spends tens of millions in sponsorship wants their driver to be classless? The driver is the front man for their company and I think they expect him to act as such. Do you think NASCAR wants the drivers to present themselves in a proper manner? And you want your child to watch and cheer for someone with no class?
Raw emotion is fine. But this was not emotion. He planned to do this. It is his trophy and he can do whatever he wants with it, but if he wanted to divide it among his crew it could have been handled a little better. He could have taken back to his shop and had it cut up for them. This was nothing more than him playing to his bad boy image he loves so much.
To a point I think it is good for the sport. But he has no respect for anything.
I think he should take a cue from Paul "Bear" Bryant who told his players when they scored a TD "Act like you have been there before".
Jeff Gordon hit the nail on the head years ago when ask if all the boo's bothered him he said nope it just shows their paying attention to me. sometimes bad press gets the drivers more attention then good press and yes the sponsor's love it most of the time

I guess some of us didn't watch the Pre-Race on TNT when Rusty said that it didn't really hit Bass until the next day and he was sick about it. I don't have the exact quote but maybe someone recorded it on DVR and can go back and watch.

IMO Bass was the one with CLASS because he didn't grab Busch by the neck and strangle him. I mean whats he supposed to do, Flip out on Busch on national television?Huh??

No, I think Bass was very pissed off but he kept his cool. Maybe Kyle could learn some respect from him. Like Rusty said, It wasn't a trophy it was a one-of-a-kind work of art that someone HAND painted.

If Kyle wants to do STUPID things like that then he needs to Pre-Order a replica trophy for that race the he can beat the SH_T out of it if he wants. I don't have a problem with him busting up his trophies but have someone make a fake one or something but don't destroy something that can NEVER be replaced.

I'm so glad Kyle is psychic...of course he knows that I have not one tattoo on me...no shrubberies molded in the shape of 88 or 8...if Kyle has said a single thing that illustrated his complete contempt of the NASCAR fanbase, it was this one.

Guess what Kyle?  I don't love the 88!  And I don't love you either Tongue  However, if I had a choice of who to invite for dinner...at least I'm pretty sure Jr. could keep his napkin on his lap at the table.  You?  Kyle would be banished to the kiddie table where flying food might be tolerated.

I don't hanve an 88 tatoo anywhere on my body and am not a fan or hater of Jr. I am a fan of the sport and what Kyle did was classless.

I too heard Rusty comment on Sam Bass' reaction the next morning. If Kyle did indeed order two more trophies I hope Sam charges him dearly.

I think Kyle brings some personality to the sport in PC world, which is good. But he can certainly act like he has a little respect for the sport, fellow drivers and fans.

Whew, I thought I might be the only person who saw that piece with Rusty. I hope Kyle wants a new guitar but Bass turns him down on national television lol.

I don't have an 88 tattooed on my arm or anywhere else for that matter.  In fact I can't really stand the guy.  But my reaction still wasn't favorable, and I'm willing to bet his 99% is off by quite a bit.

Jesus Christ may love Kyle Busch, but everyone else thinks he's an @zzhole!

Not EVERYone Skool..Not everyone. Wink

I suspect (just like me with Team Hendrick) that even if Kyle donated his entire winnings and his guitar to your favorite charity it would change your opinion of him bud. You'd more than likely wonder what was behind it as a motive, or see it as a publicity stunt, etc.. Grin

I think  you know me well enough to know Im Not saying that as a putdown, but, just an observation and opinion knowing how deeply my own feelings are, Ok? Wink

I would politely  thank Kyle, but I still would NOT want him around, or invite him to dinner.

Ya know, they say you can only make a first impression ONE time. While sometimes first impressions turn out to be wrong, but ya know what, Kyle Busch is WAY beyond 'first' impressions and the impression he does leave is still the same. He just continues to validate one's first impression of him.  He has extreme talent, but no class to go with it.

JMO of course.
