Livin' Large... Lovin' Life

WWW
« on: October 02, 2009, 09:57:04 AM »

I been noticing that not NEAR as many folks ahve been posting new messages, or even replying to posts.
(I assume I am like most of you who get a notification when something is posted)

In any event,.. I have not gotten NEAR as many notice the last couple months...
Then went to the STATS page and see even one has just quit posting.
In July there were almost 850 new postings.
In August there was only 425... thats HALF as many decrease in just one month...
And in August we were winding down to the end of the chase race... so there was a LOT to talk about.
So in September when the race to the chase ended,... and the Chase kicked off,.. we have even LESS new postings. (less than 400)

I know we have only had one day so far in October, but we just had 7 new total postings yesterday... 7 times 30 days is only just over 200 for the month.
I'm sure there will be more than that,..
I'm just curious WHY there is such a huge downward trend when this is the MOST exciting time of the NASCAR season.. and no one is hear talking.
Typically November, December and January are the 'slowest' months of racing so I'd expect chat to be down then.
BUT for the last two years Nov, Dec, and jan have AVERAGED over 950 new post a month.
Even in Dec when racing is DEAD,.. for the last two years we have averaged over 650 new posts per month...
Have that many people soured on NASCAR in just the last couple months.
Man if the number are THAT low when racing is supposed to be exciting,... just HOW SLOW is to going to be come winter.

I've been wondering the same thing !!!!

Is everybody watching football Huh?Huh?

And what's with the hockey talk Huh?Huh??

I could never understand that game !!!!!!

I don't think there's even a puck. I never see one.

I think they just put the red light on and change the scoreboard every once in a while !!!!!!!!!

I can only speak for myself, but I'm putting in a ton of hours at work right now...probably 60+ this week alone, and when I'm not at work, I'm usually busy looking at something behind the scenes.  That's where the majority of my time has gone, and I still like to spend some quality time with my husband, so the posting takes a back seat when the choice is spending time with him or posting.

"Have that many people soured on NASCAR in just the last couple months."

Probably the #1 answer. It's true for me. I'm slowly detoxing myself from NASCAR addiction. It's getting easier than I thought.

Maybe, as I posted in the thread about the 48 and 5 being "too close" to tolerences, we've learned that nascar is a farce!

I was getting all set to go to the race in Charlotte (Concord) on the 17th. Then, I started wondering if I really wanted to spend a few hundred bucks that weekend.

Decided to help out a friend's daughter (she's only 17) that has ovarian cancer instead. We're gonna put a new engine in her car this weekend. Hopefully, We'll have it running by tomorrow evening. I'm gonna donate $100 towards that, instead of going to the race.

I know I haven't been posting much.  I think they upgraded our network at work, and I can't log in anymore...damn IT dept and their 'smart filter'

Once I get home, I usually get too busy and/or tired to post much...

Plus, the Phillies are gearing up for the playoffs, and the Flyers open the season tonight against the 'Canes...

Still like Nascar, but didn't make it to Dover this year.

And, kudos to Shayne...very noble...

That's an excellent question. I've spent alot of hours on here this year. I'm a daily reader. That's because I'm one of the thousands that are un-employed. Did I ever retire from the military at the wrong time. Some pretty good irons in the fire right now though. Wish me luck.

I notice that some people only comment to certain people. which is fine. There are people that can only post on the weekend. And thier just isn't alot of news this late in the year.

The biggest dicussions this summer have been Tryson leaving. Who was in or out. Mayfield Saga and Keso's signing at PRS.

Alot of the new people who post don't see alot of replies on thier thoughts and it just dies off. I liked to do my opinion of the race weekends but noticed the amount of reads was steadily dropping and the amount of replies dwindled so why bother. I already know how I feel about the race.

I even did a rebuttal of S.D. Grady's team orders front page article and only 6 people discussed it and 5 of the 6 are the usual suspects around here.

The one thing that really attracted me here at first was alot of the FS staff got into the boards and discussed thier articles with the regular folk. I can always count of KBF and skool. FS-Amy pops in once and awhile, the others are few and far between. As for the abuse they take on the front page it's no wonder that some avoid the interaction. I know that I've been rubbed wrong at writers here a couple of times but nothing to make me go somewhere else thier entiltled to thier opion and I don't take it personally.

Ever since I joined this site, there aren't many days that I don't read every article on the home page. I look forward to the email every morning and read that too.

I'm just a regular guy. No connections in the racing world. Just "...Got It Bad", back in 1998 when I went to Rockingham for the first time.

 2004 redefined my NASCAR innocence.

I have noticed the crickets...I'm a great lurker.  Smiley

From my point of view, I've been waiting for a BIG story to hit....there hasn't been one. Silly Season drama seems to have tapered off...  It's the Chase.  And it does seem like JJ has it all in the bag.  I've tried to get behind the No. 48 team (hubby likes to cheer for him)...but it's just not in me.  Jeff is clearly not going for Five this year *sigh* and Tony has stumbled.  If I had Tony and Mark going for it, head to head, I'd be a whole lot more enthusiastic.  WHo knows...we are in Kansas this week.  Maybe the Wizard will visit and mix things up.

For my two cents...the FS Board is the only NASCAR forum I've been able to find where the posters are not making stupid comments about drivers' sexual preferences.  Everybody 'round here stays informed.  It's a breath of fresh air.

But, yeah, there is real life that impedes my enjoyment of NASCAR.  The whole 50 hr/wk job (this week I had to do budgets for 2010...I HATE BUDGETS!!!!).  Last week was the new roof on the house with the unpleasant surprises beneath the 60 years of shingles.  This upcoming week is the Topsfield Fair!  Woo Hoo!

There is just not enough time in life to do everything I want to do!

I'm sorry!  I'm sorry! Okay.

I haven't been on here much lately either - and I have no excuse 'cause I have no job, I just sit around all day and suck air!  But, I'm here now.  I'll try to be a better poster.

Heck, the only thing I've heard news-worthy in recent weeks is more of Jeremy Mayfields family and friends coming forward, saying they have witnessed him taking meth over a long period of time...ane even that didn't start another discussion....of course, Mayfield's done, he's got worse problems than suing NASCAR for lost income.....sucking up all of his income in the process....

I only pop in once and a while and this is the first time I've posted in a long time.  Too much else going on between work and home.
