Yep...a mere four days after Halloween and I was wandering through the Christmas displays in our local Lowe's.  I know, that sounds awful.  Who in their right mind even contemplates four inches of snow and icicle lights well before we've devoured the first turkey?

I do...but I do have a slight defense.

A couple years ago AFTER the first of the year, I found an inflatable Tony Stewart Home Depot car, complete with snowmen for a pit crew, sitting in the Home Depot discount bin.  I just had to.  I didn't even like Tony.  But what better way to celebrate the holidays every year than by displaying my NASCAR mania on the front lawn?  It just had one drawback...it was a Home Depot machine (I've since softened toward Smoke).  We've checked annually for a counterpart at the Lowe's store.  Never found one until today.

That No. 48 is gonna look mighty fine leading the No. 20 across the start/finish/leaf line in my yard come December.  And it only set me back $80...

As I said, I'm such a sucker.  *they didn't have a No. 24 to make me really happy, but I'll deal*  Grin

LOL this cracks me up.  You should expand it and write a column on it...NASCAR themed holday decor?

In our rec room we have three driver standups.  They get decorated for holidays.  I'll post the Halloween pics when I get home.

The Jeff Gordon standup I had was sent to a nephew.  The Jeff Green/Best Buy one kept freakin me out when I walked into the dark room...I put it in the attic. Tongue

I think I've told this story before, but I will again for some of the newer ones here.

A few years ago, at the local tavern were we all hung out, got drunk and watched nascar (yes, the same one where Voices From the Heartland was born), over in the corner was a cardboard standup of Rusty Wallace. One night, after Rusty had taken out my drunken buddy's driver during a race, my buddy goes over and says he gonna whip Rusty's ass! So he procedes to punch the Rusty standup, right in the stomach. Well the standup instantly buckled and the top edge of Rusty's head catches my buddy right below the eye and gave him a nasty 'cardboard cut' which eventually turned into a full blown black eye!  To this day, we still give that guy a ration of S%&T about how 'Rusty' kicked HIS ass!   Grin

Owwww --- that's bad.
But it could have been worse.
Imagine if Rusty had buckled somewhere around the waist and his leg came up abruptly.
Ordering another brew with a high voic e would have brought the whole house down with laughter.
Then again, imagine if that had been a stand up of Mr. Excitement, aka Jimmy Spencer.
