I liked it better when Tony was losing under the old way.  Sad

JJ is in the lead with the chase and that is what matters.

Sad but true, its the Chase point system that will determine the Championship. It was set up to make it more exciting for the fans. What NASCAR should be learning from this is you cannot manufacture excitment in racing without it taking away from the race itself. The top 35 rule, the 2 pitstops in the truck races are other examples. The only thing that has been successful is the double file restarts.
All of these new rules are killing this sport. Its walking the path that IROC once was and look where IROC is now.

But thankfully we've only got 2 more races where we have to deal with that....

Well just to reiterate the Double File Restarts are the Best thing Nascar has initiated since the Safer Barriers , Helmet Restraints ...Etc ! True Nascar did not develop the Safety Changes but they did ensure that some form of Proactive approach was put into effect , rather than wait for more Driver Deaths ! The Truck Series in my opinion and apparently shared with numerous other Forum Members is still the most exciting Series , unfortunately the Tires only gas only scenario really is a joke ! Let them race please. The Former Busch Series (Nationwide ) has enough restraints with the Number of Tires that they can use within the Race ..again cost cutting is one thing . but hobbling the Teams with such #$#%&#$  Cow Manure Tactics just takes away from the Racing !  As far as the Chase verses the Old System
... Good Idea with less than Great Results ...to-date !  Wink

Does anyone here know anybody who is excited about the chase?  I am not being negative.  I'm just asking because I love the old system.  Yeah, I could see some tweaks... more points for a win, etc., but at least the old way showed who the best driver for the WHOLE season was.

The way I see it.....

We will never know how great the team of Chad/Jimmie really are as long as we have the Chase.

The whole approach to winning a Cup has changed since the Chase was implemented. Chad/Jimmie have that approach in their hip pocket.  Until things are changed BACK to the old system (with a few tweaks..more pts for a win, etc.) I for one, will NEVER even consider JJ as one of the best ever. You simply cannot make the comparison of Chase Cups and pre-Chase Cups.

That is how much the 'Chase' has changed nascar. I say, let's step back, tweak the old system, and lets see how great the 48 team REALLY IS!!!!!!

(Im not saying JJ/Chad are not extremely talented, just that you cannot compare the two types of Cups.)

I think Stewarts 05 cup is valid, as he was the season point leader the old way and for the chase.     But I agree, JJ has owned the last 10 races of the season and he's hard to measure against others because of the Chase.
