It seems to me that this is the latest a silly season has gone on. Lots of announcements in all three sereis this weekend. But one of the best tidbits out there is that James Finch, ower of Phoenix racing (#09 Cae) is deciding between Reed "will work for free" Sorenson and Casey "I need to feed my baby" Mears. If you're in James Finch's shoes who do you sign?

I voted someone else for the same reason.  Jarit Johnson is an outstanding young driver who really deserves a break. I'd also really like to see KEnny Wallace have one more go-round in a decent car to show he can still race with the best of them

BUT, given Finch and his revolving door, I'm not sure it's really the quality ride any up-and-coming driver needs, because there is no stability.  Ditto on Kenny, even though he's a veteran.

I voted someone else as well.  Taylar Malsam or Landon Cassill though I know Cassill is under HMS.

I don't know if Cassill is or not. He's raced one NNS race at Mephis and it wasn't in an HMS car.

Wow tough one for sure ! I would probably vote for someone new , but with the two options given I guess I would prefer Reed Sorenson ! I think he has been in less stellar equipment and had at least as much success as  Casey Mears .
Really a coin flip call lol !

Doug,
He is under HMS.  I have a friend who visits HMS headquarters and sees Landon there all the time.

I wouldn't vote to put anyone in that car. Finch is a low life. A slum lord of racing.

A low budget team needs someone who'll qualify well and take care of the equipment.  Up & comers need not apply (Keso was an exception... he came with sponsorship and tech support from Hendrick).

I'd probably take Sorenson over Mears, but not by much.  Casey's underachieving in good equipment would have me wondering how many times he'd DNQ in the #09.

Tony Raines, Travis Kvapil, Mike Bliss, etc would all be on the list of guys I would talk with.

The veterans I'd really want would be Bobby Labonte or Joe Nemechek, but I think both of them have other plans.

Edit:  It looks like Gilliland is in the 09 for an attempt this week, and I believe it will be Stremme at Homestead...
